"the dining room is down and a surprisingly large room, wooden dressed and maybe because the noise levels are high. but the tables are well spaced and you never feel crowded, and the ambiente has failed. Although there is a...excellent selection of starters, we decided to move directly to the main event that is necessarily the steaks at hawksmoor. I traveled a lot in the usa and have often eaten at legendary US steak houses, but my sirloin (rare) was so good or better than the best I had in the usa. beautifully seasoned, perfectly cooked and completely delicious. a good steak is a thing of beauty and that was, without asking, a good steak a very good steak. the sprouts were also excellent, the beef-dryries were crisp and full of taste, the creamy spinat rich and tasty, the buttered greens al dente. desserts did not disappoint me that I chose the cheese selection, with the proposed oloroso as a reference. my friends the rhubarb pavlowa and the ambassadeur a nutritious concoction. both annoyed that they were more than happy with what was presented, and their tellers enjoyed the eye and the palate. the staff was very well informed, attentive, without pushy, engaged and charming a credit to the restaurant. So why only four stars, instead of five, because of the weeping prizes, I'm afraid. the selection is impressive, but the prices are, candid, on the optimistic side. the bottle corbieres has been charged and that is quite galling if you can buy it at a decent wein dealer for a ten. it was a beautiful wein, safe, but very much to the cheaper end of the list, where the prices climbed quite steeply from per bottle to dizzying heights. I am carp, because it was a wonderful meal, in a very pleasant environment, with very friendly and competent staff only ready to cover for the vino:"

"Me my boyfriend booked a trip to London for my birthday. We had booked this restaurant as a part of the Virgin Experience offer. First impressions of the restaurant were that staff were attentive with taking our coats and hanging them up ect although shortly after we were shown to our seats our impressions changed. The man who was waiting our table was an extremely rude and arrogant man. We are young adults and both of us fussy with our appetites. We explained to the man we would prefer to miss the cocktails and happy to not have a drink. He offered us a non alcoholic cocktail and i politely declined, which seemed to aggravate him. He made several comments about our eating/drinking and how we should have a drink! This wasn’t in a polite tone it was plain rude and felt slightly insulting. You also have to pay extra for Water which they offer you and if my parents hadn’t been here before me i wouldn’t have been any the wiser that they charge you for it. The waiter also asked if we would like starters which we opted out of and again made rude comments and laughed at us. We wouldn’t have had to pay any extra for the starter’s so couldn’t quite understand the issue. The meal itself was a small portion, but nevertheless delicious. We both had a steak which one of the only things on the menu you didn’t need to pay a surplus charge for. I felt that this was very misleading as on the Virgin website it didn’t state about any extra charges for items and we weren’t aware of this until we were in the restaurant ordering our food. We payed the extra for our sides which was about £4.50 per side, a small portion. Although understandable as this is London prices for you. Can’t fault the food and the pudding again was small but very rich and delicious. This also cost an extra fee of £4.50 Overall a ‘free’ meal that i had paid for with a voucher cost us around £50 extra than already expected. You pay a service fee at the end which quite frankly i wanted to opt out of but felt too awkward due to the rude man who shoved the card reader in our face before we had chance to opt out. I wouldn’t return here as the dining experience was average and i would prefer to spend my somewhere more worthwhile."
