"the dining room is down and a surprisingly large room, wooden dressed and maybe because the noise levels are high. but the tables are well spaced and you never feel crowded, and the ambiente has failed. Although there is a...excellent selection of starters, we decided to move directly to the main event that is necessarily the steaks at hawksmoor. I traveled a lot in the usa and have often eaten at legendary US steak houses, but my sirloin (rare) was so good or better than the best I had in the usa. beautifully seasoned, perfectly cooked and completely delicious. a good steak is a thing of beauty and that was, without asking, a good steak a very good steak. the sprouts were also excellent, the beef-dryries were crisp and full of taste, the creamy spinat rich and tasty, the buttered greens al dente. desserts did not disappoint me that I chose the cheese selection, with the proposed oloroso as a reference. my friends the rhubarb pavlowa and the ambassadeur a nutritious concoction. both annoyed that they were more than happy with what was presented, and their tellers enjoyed the eye and the palate. the staff was very well informed, attentive, without pushy, engaged and charming a credit to the restaurant. So why only four stars, instead of five, because of the weeping prizes, I'm afraid. the selection is impressive, but the prices are, candid, on the optimistic side. the bottle corbieres has been charged and that is quite galling if you can buy it at a decent wein dealer for a ten. it was a beautiful wein, safe, but very much to the cheaper end of the list, where the prices climbed quite steeply from per bottle to dizzying heights. I am carp, because it was a wonderful meal, in a very pleasant environment, with very friendly and competent staff only ready to cover for the vino:"

a few sirloin steaks with chips and spinat, washed with a full glass of red wine for lunch. I think I could make it all dinner again.

another visit in this brilliant restaurant. table for seven to midday. a few beers in the bar. great service and good eating. all steaks were cooked for perfection and served at the same time. finished with a glass harbour.

They didn’t have lobster on the menu which was the only thing I wanted. My partner had beef and he said he’s had better elsewhere. The starter was delicious and the sides were okay. The overall vibe was nice inside the restaurant but food is...average and nothing to rave about. View menu

Good service despite it being very busy. The portion sizes are large and the food quality good. The stuffing is outstanding. Cheese at £4 per selection is good value. The wine list is extensive albeit a little on the expensive side. Overall an enjoyable meal but with all the extra's (sides, one bottle of wine, one short, no starters) at little expensive at circa £268 for 4 people.

On arrival this looks fairly small, but that is ground floor reception, down the stairs to a significantly larger space spanning several ground floor front doors. Great menu, dominated by steak, no surprise there. We were there on a deal, two courses. A great tomato and cheese salad starter. Both went for the steak mains, medium rare fantastic The some brilliant deserts . Only drawback is as the vast space filled up the noise level got too high!

We visited on the January to celebrate our anniversary and had friends join us. Everything was fantastic. From the moment we walked through the door the service was outstanding. We were greeted by a lovely hostess and we went down to the bar for...a pre-dinner drink. Our food was absolutely amazing, starters mains and we just about had room for dessert (which was a lovely anniversary decorated sticky toffee pudding). The quality of the food was excellent. The staff are so well trained and so unbelievably knowledgeable and helpful. We will definitely be back and will certainly be recommending this restaurant. Thank You to all involved for a wonderful anniversary celebration. View menu

I used to visit the very hawkesmoor in Spittlefields before they became a chain. Always an exquisite experience lived up to the quality of their claims on every level. Sadly when I visited the guildhall yesterday it was a very different experience. The...place resembled a canteen was very noisy. We weren't inspired, but continued to order after being very kindly accommodated in a quieter corner by the helpful staff. Lunch ordered, our plates were brought up almost immediately, further adding to the canteen feel. I tried everything in the plate when asked by our waiter if all was ok, I was honest Said that we were both disatisfied with the content. He very graciously spoke to the chef our bil...

My partner and I visited tonight on a spare of the moment visit. We arrived at the restaurant just after and were pleased that the staff did everything they could to squeeze us in. We followed the stairs down and the restaurant setting was...absolutely amazing. The staff were very helpful and new the menu inside and out and were able to pair the wine for us. My partner had the express menu and I opted for the main menu. The food was second to none and next time we were in London we would definitely go back. There were two parts to the restaurant (one next to the bar) and the main restaurant (where we sat) BUT both beautifully decorated. If you like a quieter atmosphere perhapd go next to the...
