"We went along to The Blackbird the other week on a Tuesday evening to sample their offerings. We had both heard good things and were very much looking forward to our visit. Initial thoughts on walking through the door was that it had more of a pub which served food feeling. For some reason I had it in my head that it was a restaurant. We were warmly greeted after we entered and told our table was almost ready (we were early) and did we want to have a quick drink at the bar, and unsurprisingly indeed we did want to have a drink at the bar. I was pleased to see the excellent Williams Brothers Joker IPA on tap and swiftly ordered a pint. Miss Edinburger went for the equally tasty Sierra Nevada (I’ve clearly thought her a thing or two about beer). When standing at the bar enjoying our beer we noticed some comfy looking sofas at a couple of the tables, the bar area had a cosy feel and struck me as a perfect spot for a quiet Sunday afternoon drink. Although trying to get out of those sofas after a few may prove trickier than it looks! There was also a number of tasty sounding efforts on the cocktail menu up on the wall I knew we would have to come back and try a few of those bad boys regardless of how good the food would turn out to be. A few minutes at the bar and our table was ready. The friendly waitress showed us through to the dining area which is in a separate area at the other side of the back wall of the bar. The food menu was impressive, there’s a good compact selection of tasty sounding dishes with plenty variation. Our initial plans on sharing a starter went out the window when we couldn’t decide between the Innis Gunn beer battered tiger prawns with honey beer dipping syrup or the coconut crusted chicken with peanut butter and chilli hummus so we did the sensible thing and ordered both. For main course I went for the pie of the day which was steak and haggis with all butter puff pastry and twice cooked cut chips. Miss Edinburger went for the Mushroom"

"we noticed this beautiful little restaurant after we recently moved to the local opposite and visited last night. we were welcomed by 2 very friendly servers and our selection of tables offered. there is so much to choose without overwhelming the menu. Finally we decided to share the special mixed tempura (prawns, avocado, sweet potato and aubergine deep roasted in a delicious thick teig) and takoyaki (battered octopus balls in yaki sauce with mayo) both appetitzüglers were delicious, but the takoyaki was from this world and I could eat it all day! we both knew that we wanted to ramen, as we had heard, that in contrast to many other Leeds-based restaurants, the ramen here comes with their choice of suppen base; gay, misto, shioyo or cheese and gays and they can also choose which nudels they want; thick udon, thin beech or classic thin egg noodles. we have both settled on the senbon Sakura rays with a squacy soup and rosm noodles – the rug was out of this world, full of tasty grilled hues, frying, salmon, queen roasts and a huge clam. it also comes with nori, a soy marinated egg, early baptism, sesame and wakame seeweed, bohnensprossen and sweet mais. so delicious! after a few bites my man proudly declared that this was his new favorite restaurant in leeds and I agree! the restaurant itself has a really casual and quite traditional Japanese vibe, naked wooden and chairs without kitschige gimmicks and plays really cool, jolly Japanese music. the service was super friendly and fast, we were regularly checked and the dishes were quickly deleted. for 2 nets, 2 starters and 2 drinks, the bill came to £35, which amazing! note that they have no alcohol license yet, but have a good choice of softdrinks and tees. I also look forward to eating and breakfast in the future."

"I 'm going to cover the features within this restaurant and then give my overall review. Starting with the: Food The food served in this restaurant looks pretty good and same for the taste. I ordered one of their specialties which they were advertising outside to try and it was alright. I wasn 't over the moon about it, but it was good food nonetheless. Menu The menu in this restaurant is nice. Its easy to read, well laid out and has alot to offer. The specialties are also highlighted and concise in their descriptions. Queue Speed I came here on a Saturday afternoon and thankfully didn 't have to queue for a seat. Ordering food was also straight forward and the waiting period wasn 't too long either. Overall I was pleased with the pace of services in this restaurant. Sitting Space The sitting spaces are really nice in comparison to most restaurants I 've been at. The chairs and table locations are good and in great condition, plus they 're not all too close together so you won 't have to worry about overhearing conversations or having other listen in on yours. Lighting The lighting in this restaurant is marvellous and provides a calm, relaxing and welcoming atmosphere throughout the restaurant. The lighting is also ideal for those who like to take pictures of themselves or their food inside the restaurant or for reviews in my case. Customer service The customer service here is pretty good as the members of staff all seem pretty competent and level headed. Hygiene The hygiene in this restaurant is really good. The seating areas were all clean and well looked after and the same can be said for the toilets. Overall I really liked this restaurant and would like to return and try more food from the menu. I found the restaurant to be pretty eye catching from the moment you step inside. The beautiful art work across the walls, the nature esque decor, the bar and the trendy setup all make for a beautiful and refreshing dining experience."
