"Excellent evening, we sat in the Air Mens Bar, which checked the menu and the wine list about an excellent gin and tonic as we were early. A 3-course menu was presented as it was the festive season. Basic choices of meat, fish and vegetarians, but not an extensive menu, unlike the wine list that has a very good selection. The food was tastefully presented with appropriate portion size, some can say small, but it didn't let you flower. We were served hot nuts and warm bread with 3 types of spread, also the blue cheese was declared delicious and we are not fans of blue cheese. We had tomato gazpacho with sun-dried tomato and the blackened halibut. Cod as a net and also Venison, both cooked to perfection. Soufflé on the desert menu and it is always our choice. Also cooked for perfection. Paired with rose from proven E and a pint noir from the Loire Valley, our choice. Restaurant is very nice, tables are not nearby, piano game from the gallery, attentive service, but not over camp. Restaurant was very busy, but you never felt rushed. Tea and coffee afterwards with some nice fours and a night capsule. A really nice evening. Very recommended"

"We had an excellent evening at the restaurant. We were seated in the airy bar area and enjoyed reviewing the menu and wine list while sipping on a delicious gin and tonic. We were presented with a three-course menu as it was the festive season. The menu offered a good selection of meat, fish, and vegetarian options, although it was not extensive like the impressive wine list. The food was tastefully presented with reasonable portion sizes, some may find them small but they didn't leave us feeling bloated. We were pleasantly surprised by the warm nuts and bread with different spreads, including a delicious blue cheese spread which we enjoyed despite not being fans of blue cheese. We ordered tomato gazpacho with sun-dried tomatoes and blackened halibut for starters, followed by cod and venison for mains, all of which were cooked to perfection. For dessert, we chose the soufflé, which was also perfectly cooked. We paired our meal with a rose from Provence and a pinot noir from the Loire Valley. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere with well-spaced tables and live piano music. The service was attentive but not overbearing, even though the restaurant was busy. We ended the evening with tea, coffee, petit fours, and a nightcap. Overall, it was a lovely evening and we highly recommend this restaurant."

"We had a fabulous evening meal at Corse Lawn restaurant. The actual room could do with a bit of a make over. Most of the pairings were crooked and there were cobwebs on the wall light shades but it sort of added to the quirkiness of it. Can’t fault the food it was really excellent. The wine list was quite extensive but not so that you couldn’t get through it. Can highly recommend. The hotel is owned by the Hine (cognac) family which is why the wine list is excellent. The bar has plenty of choice and we sat in the lounge area for our coffee and petit fours (homemade)."

"we had a pleasant early dinner in sheekey 's after a very long time. we were not disappointed by eating oysters, prawns, lobsters, sashimi, artichoke soup, risotto everything well prepared. very pleased to see also an extensive vegetarian/veganes menu and the wine selections are decent about the sortiment. on the bottom the table was quite small, and the restaurant felt too cozy . and while the service overall was good, it was sometimes not great that water and wein sprayed into our glasses without much care. Nevertheless, this is a good choice for seafood lovers in the heart of london, and we are sure that we will be back."

"Portrait Gallery is consummate location to show off the city with a amazing view down Whitehall,with glass panelling surrounding the entire restaurant you are blown away by the view as soon as you vacate the lift on to restaurant floor. The Portrait restaurant affords you the relaxed setting to have not only a great view but welcomed conversation with your guests, unlike other restaurants here the environment is mellow rather then usual loud atmosphere of diners either clambering to talk to each other or the waiter. The staff are attentive and yet not over bearing, getting that balance of service and eloquence……..the location is another plus not only do you have one of London’s famous galleries downstairs but not a four minute walk are you from Trafalgar Square, were something is always happening.I decided to visit for breakfast having booked through opentable,where my request for a window table was honoured. "We SO enjoyed our visit last night to Sally Clarke's restaurant it was my first ever time but our host's returning umpteenth experience of this shining gem of an establishment. Having heard endless recommendations and rave reviews, we approached with eager, certainly high expectations. From the sheer courtesy and attention of the staff on arrival to our reluctant departure (was it really? three hours later with joyous hearts and stomachs, we had a ball!! "A very special restaurant with a fabulous view over Trafalgar Square and way beyond. A great menu with vegetation choices. A good wine list, but the bottles start just under £30.00. I made a mistake (and so did others) of leaving my coat and umbrella in the downstairs cloakroom, which closes before the upstairs (floor three), restaurant! I was told my coat and umbrella would be bought up to the restaurant cloakroom later but sadly this did not happen and it was a bit of a farce trying to retrieve my items at the end of the night! It is a little tricky to find floor three where the restaurant is situated. Basically enter through the main entrance, go up the stairs to the first level, walk all the way to the back of the room and you will see lifts at the end that will take you up to the restaurant. Definitely worth the trip but book first as this place gets busy."

"Delightful welcome and very pleasant staff willing to engage in conversation. Excellent roast pork Sunday Lunch with fresh baby carrots, broccoli and crispy roast potatoes. The Yorkshire pudding was perfect. Plum and hazelnut tart. A real treat to have a pudding which is special to this location. After the meal it was so nice to relax in such a beautifully decorated lounge with coffee and enjoy the wonderful view across Ramsgate Harbour. Looking forward to our next visit!"

"So very very disappointing. Having read previous reviews, I specifically chose this restaurant to take my boyfriend to for his special birthday meal. Went on a Saturday night and were the first sitting of the evening. For a menu that is already very limited with...little choice, to then be told there was no rump steak and no fish of the day was a shocker. So for us non-veggies, the choice of sirloin steak, fish and chips or Burger!! Our starter of prawn cocktail came in the most awkward high cocktail glasses making it really difficult to eat! Salt and pepper pots on our table were both empty. We both went for the sirloin steak, which was very fatty. The chips were tasty, but the tomato looked either past it’s best or microwaved. The peppercorn sauce was extremely thin and not at all creamy. Overall, average, in fact I would go as far as to say the steak we had at the Premier Inn a week ago before travelling abroad was better and half the price and presented better. The restaurant itself appears high end in its appearance but totally let down by the food. The staff were very apologetic and actually embarrassed that the menu or lack of it was poor. Hence a slight reduction in our bill. "

"Welcome to birmingham. Welcome to the bartons arms. Usually when I visit a pub, I take some quick photos of the pub sign and go inside. I didn't know where to show my camera. there was so much to inspire the eyes. the red brick building takes a large space on the corner of the high road in aston. When they look around outside, they remember to look up again. the beauty goes far beyond the second floor. the eyes sweetness go on when they enter. the deck is high. the middle piece is the fine rounded wood beam surface. the eyes are worn to the big staircase and glitter as they take the decorative percaline wall craft. Right is a beautiful bar from the 19th century. right is the restaurant that is designed from the original lounge area. the glass window at the far end of the restaurant is great. I sat at a table that was more used to putting a pint than a court. the service was attentive and accurate. I felt it could have been more relaxed, smiling to bring those warmth I enjoy. the food came quickly. the bartons arms offer great games for Thai cuisine. very tasteful. at midday an express dinner is offered. for £10.50 you can order a starter and main. excellent value for money. I could not argue about the quality of eating. I would like to see the courts differently presented. they leave the standard white crockery. what is with about 2 tons fine porcelain. try some variations on the presentation of eating. the bartons arms is a hidden gem in birmingham. a pub I would like to recommend to anyone who visits our humble city. the Thai food it offers is an excellent value for money. some food and service presentation tweaks would make the barton arms to the Thai restaurant of the choice in birmingham."

"A treat for Christmas Eve that both enchanted and disappointed. The Christmas ambiance was wonderful with a magnificent decorated tree and crackers on the tables. The menu was baffling, being a kind of English tapas selection. Opting for a few dishes to share, we were struck by the variety of subtle flavours although very disappointed by the size of the servings in view of the prices. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, finally let down by the waitress not bringing the change, albeit small. Service was included in the bill, but this error cost her a tip. Overall a lovely experience, but be prepared for the high prices."

"Absolutely amazing food and drinks! I started with the Braised Pork Belly with the Three Lives cocktail. Then on to the Truffle and Parmasean Fries with the Exiles cocktail. And to finish, the Vanilla Panna Cota with a Latte. Wouldn't change a thing. The Exiles cocktail was incredible, like nothing I've had before. Panna Cota was worth it, 100%. The braised Pork Belly was so good, I could've eaten another serving. The team was so kind and helpful. Would definitely recommend a visit."

"Booked for Christmas dinner with friends and family, had to do split booking due to large party, sent an email and booking note requesting placement together. We tried to call on several occasions but no answer. On the day, though the restaurant had so many empty tables, but the front desk staff still split us up saying can’t place together. There was delay right from the beginning, taking the order, serving it and the quality. You can see one of the staff not sure if he was working in the kitchen aswell, looked so tired and drained, apologised for the delay and service. The food had to be returned as it was half cooked chicken, still pink inside, salmon order was not processed at all but declined cancellation and served later with apologies. Kids portions were too big, lot of food waste. They didnot bill for the returned food but the experience was not as we expected it to be. We did see people complaining and walking out as the food was not meeting their expectation. We cancelled our waitlist for Hilton as this was confirmed, wonder how the day could have been. The hotel looked bright and welcoming but restaurant did not meet the expectations unfortunately."

"This is the first time I've ever visited one of these restaurants, it seemed a good option to choose when we were out with our daughter. We ordered her a kids meal, which was completely free as we were ordering an adult meal too. This is brilliant, and just the sort of things parents need more of! Our daughter's food also came first, and wasn't scalding hot like most other places. That's not to say it was cold, not by any means. It was ideal and it meant that we all finished near enough at the same time, not us sat there waiting for our daughter to finish! I had the Chicken Katsu noodles, which was delicious. I couldn't fault it! My partner had a Smoky Joe burger and he also enjoyed it. Our daughter's meal was fish fingers, with chips and beans which she loved. Plus she got a drink and a dessert too, (she chose Vanilla ice cream , and with it being free it was even better! The staff were mostly very good, but looked a little flustered. Needless to say, it was fairly busy, but we were not kept waiting! Improvements I would suggest would be a bigger restaurant, more people will definitely come! I will definitely visit here again! "Decided to pop in for lunch with my wife whilst out and about last Monday. Place was quiet only one other table with eight female guests. We chose from the menu upgrading our mains to the lamb shank and the rib eye steak. Both were excellent and we finished off with cheesecake. Service was very friendly and quick. We managed to park opposite in a two hour turn around bay, no charge. We will definitely be returning, food great service great and reasonably priced. Thank you."
