When we called to inquire about our order, we were told that they had not even started preparing it. "We went for a dinner with friends, we ordered salt pepper corn, chilli paneer, masala Mogo, veg samosa’s which were all edible but nothing that was outstanding, but all edible and we all ate. For mains we ordered butter chicken, shahi paneer, dal makhani and naan and nothing was really outsindong, they added juts lots of chilli powder on the dal makhani but forgot to add any butter or cream! The paneer was again the same nothing shahi about it. They did offer to make it again but we didn’t want to wait around for them to make it all again. Be aware when ordering a jug of coke or drink! It’s £12 for 3 large glasses of coke whereas the the jug is £12 and only offer you 1.5 glasses of coke! So felt a bit ripped off there! But we didn’t say anything to them about it but def not worth getting the jug! Lesson learnt not sure if rush back to eat there again as nothing really stood out"

"Return visit here while staying in St Andrews. Luvly welcome from staff. Ordered a luvly bottle of house wine Enjoyed pops and 4 chutneys all very tasty. Ordered a mixed starter to share Then a chicken balti tikka, and a maisha special curry, with a mushroom rice to share, a chapati. and a cheese and garlic naan. All food was delicious and freshly cooked. We had a really enjoyable evening. Highly recommend a visit here ,will be back : :"

"AVOID! Had many takeaways from this place over the years but last nights £31.00 order was beyond shocking. Let me also explain that I rang the restaurant directly before writing this review to resolve the issue and best they could do is offer a 20% off next order. I am actually shocked by the insulting man on the phone. The satay chicken had never seen a peanut in its life and actually tasted of garlic, mushroom and onion dishwater. The chicken balls were like eating little pods of exploding grease. Vile. The salt and peppee chips had never seen salt or pepper. Just a bit on onion and chilli flake. The chicken chow mein was dry and 3 tiny pieces of chicken in. Egg fried rice and prawn toast, orthough a little greasy was the only edible parts of the meal. On top of this my partner has been sick most of the night from the 5 or 6 mouthfuls of food she ate. The food was also late and delivered by taxi. Very odd. I am going to report to the food hygiene at council too as something is certainly a miss here. I went through all these concerns over the phone today and sent the photos to them. There responce was “Oh it looks like you eat 6 chicken balls and the satay etc” they couldn’t understand that 3 plates had been plated from the bags and majority of that was in the bin. AVOID!"

"I recently revisited this Chinese restaurant in Finnieston before a night out and was not disappointed. The interior may be basic, but the food more than makes up for it. Seeing Chinese students dining in was a good sign and indicated that the food was authentic. I tried the Chicken and Black Bean dish this time, and it was delicious. It seems like they may have a new chef, but the taste was still just as great as I remembered. The portions were generous and filled me up nicely before a few drinks. My friends tried the crispy shredded beef, which was also a large portion. I will definitely be returning soon."

"This was my second time visiting Shikumen. The first time I came here, I was very pleased with the quality of the food and service this was why I returned with more people. This time however, I was extremely disappointed. Service was slow, waiters and waitresses seemed less than bothered about taking our order (we had to wait mins to even place our order) and getting food to us on time or at all sometimes. We had to chase at least three times for tea, water. Some dishes that didn't seem to appear at all and when we chased, there was no apology. I don't think I'll be coming here again which is a shame."

"Carluccio's in Reading is relaxed with a very nice atmosphere. The restaurant/shop combo is a good idea. The food for reasonably priced, in fact not much more than Strada. Quality was not excellent my calamari starter was a little dry and the seafood risotto a tad watery. They were under staffed the evening we went. It took a couple of minutes standing like a lemon before the front of house lady had a chance to seat us, and the food took a long time to arrive. However staff were friendly."

"To my surprise, many restaurants are closed on Sunday evening in London. Every time I looked up a vegan restaurant on Happy Cow, it turned out it was closed. Since it was late and I was hungry, I had no other option than to select a vegetarian restaurant close by. 1947 Restaurant and Bar is both an Indian and Italian restaurant. The entire menu is vegetarian, however only around 20% is vegan. Many more meals can be made vegan, but so many of them had cheese listed as an ingredient that I didn 't want to run the risk. What if there 's an error in communication between the waitress and the kitchen? Or what if the chef accidentally adds cheese out of habit? I had lots of time to make up my mind, because even though the restaurant was very quiet it took a long time until the waitress came to take my order. I selected vegan biryani because I like biryani and because I 've tried it at so many restaurants that it 's easy to compare. It took a long time for the biryani to be prepared, but then it was served beautifully and smelled divine (as it should be). However, compared to other restaurants it 's a rather simple biryani. It has only one kind of rice (it is often served with both white and yellow rice) and only a few vegetables. There was no tofu, mushroom, potato, no nuts or any protein source. Also, the yoghurt was missing (which is used to extinguish the fire caused by the spices). The portion was generous and the taste was good. Although it was mentioned on the menu, 1947 Restaurant and Bar adds a 12.5% service tax. Why don 't restaurants just increase all prices on the menu instead of giving the customers a nasty surprise at the end?"

"I loved the vegetarian Laksa noodle soup and will go back for it. Quantity was huge, fairly priced... could not finish...each spoon was full of flavours the best I've had. But a bad experience some confusion with the vegetarian wonton soup order... realised it was prawn midway my daughter was eating it...she felt queasy when realised it was prawn and the staff just did nothing about it. When it appeared on the bill too staff member showed me the menu how no vegetarian option is there and I had to playback my discussion of checking with waiter that if the vegetarian option was there and after that confirmed the ordered. Eventually the manager removed it from the bill but yes it did made me feel sad as I was simply loving my laksa soup. The desert was over priced and not great. But yes, it was just a one off experience...the food is great and I will surely go back for the laksa soup."

"The best place for South Indian tiffin in Birmingham, without a doubt. I have had a few visits and the food quality has been consistent. Interestingly, they serve the longest dosa in Europe, which is called the Chennai Dosa special. You should not miss it. Bit pricey but the food quality justifies it. Recommended!"

"we just finished our meal (we had a lie because the portions were generous! and it was incredible! as it is a bank holiday, delivery was fast and contactless, as desired. my man called when I'm free of milk and they were so helpful by being over the ones of my favourite dishes free of milk and finding close alternatives for others. it was without doubt the most tasty and softest beautiful lamb I've ever eaten. would definitely recommend and we will order again. "I always noticed the wonderful smell coming from this place when I walked by, so I finally decided to try it out over the weekend. The man behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, explaining the spiciness levels of the curries and offering to adjust them to our preferences. The food we ordered was delicious, the quality was great for the price, and we didn't have to wait too long for it. I would definitely order from here again. Another great thing is that the menu offers the option to make any dish vegetarian or vegan, which is a big bonus for those who require it."

"Great food, good menu variety, polite but slightly odd waiters. The layout is too dense and the front door doesn 't shut so every time someone comes or goes the wind comes in. They charge a 12.5% 'discretionary service fee ' (aka. mandatory tip) THEN have the body nerve to ask if you want to add another tip on top when paying. The service fee is included in the price of the food, it 's not something you can charge extra for. This isn 't the USA, we don 't do mandatory service fees or tipping here and we don 't want to start it, so that sure isn 't on. Avoid this and other restaurants that do this until they sort that out or we 'll be stuck with it."
