"The Bishop has long been one of our go to locals, especially for Sunday lunch. However, standards of service on a Sunday have declined noticeably over the last few months. Yesterday we booked a table for 4pm, and my partner arrived on time although I was 10 minutes late. That 10 minutes turned out to make little difference. Having ordered drinks, when we tried to order food we were told we would have to wait 20 minutes. In fact, despite the table having been booked for 4pm, we were unable to order till 4.50, with the food not arriving till 5.20 As I hadn 't eaten since 9am, I didn 't dare drink my wine on an empty stomach. AFAIC it is absolutely unacceptable for the whole kitchen to take what appears to be a mid-afternoon break, or if they do, then there needs to be a black-out window where customers can 't book for meals. The food, when it arrived, was delicious but if we ever had to eat again at that time, it would be elsewhere."

"I went with some friends to this restaurant on Saturday night and we tried some delicious cocktails. The cocktail menu was fantastic and I can't wait to go back and enjoy them again."

"We arrived about 2.30pm and the place was pretty packed out which I like to see… to me it means they must be doing something right for the place to be busy. The lad (with the dark hair) who greeted us was so friendly and said we could wait for a table and it would be a bout 10 mins, we were more than happy to do this, they kept us informed the whole time about the table being vacated, then they needed to clean it etc. we were seated and ordered quite quick as we had already chosen… we all had all day breakfasts… I can’t stand baked beans and said none for me and I was actually offered an alternative to replace the beans (which is a rarity) I chose mushrooms for my replacement. Our food and drinks came out in good time and was really nice we all enjoyed it. Great value too. The two lads that we dealt with were so accommodating and friendly and the one with the moustache was joking about with us which we liked! We would 110% come here again!"

"As it was my wife 's 30th birthday I had booked a party of 8 for an evening meal. It was agreed by prior arrangement with the restaurant that my wife 's friend could decorate a table with birthday balloons and confetti in perpetuation for our arrival. However as we arrived another family had been seated at our decorated table. Even though the family notified the staff that they weren 't there for a 30th birthday. As our friends arrived before us they notified the staff that the table was decorated for our party but the response we got from the staff member was it wasn 't me that did it and made no effort to rectify the mistake. So it was up to my friends to explain to family that were sat at the table and move the balloons. However nothing could be done about the confetti as it was scattered all over. When ordering drinks a gin and tonic was spilt down one of my party 's jacket and in her hair. Fair to say she was far from impressed. This aside the food was very good and the portions were large. The staff supplied a bottle of prospectors in the way of an apology. However I would reccomend that certain staff members undergo training around attitudes and customer service."

"Having been invited to a Ruby Wedding party in the Chartwell Room I took a look at Donnington Manor Hotel's website and was very impressed by photos of stylish gardens, a sumptuous and historic dining-room, and delicious-looking food. The guests (38 of us) had been asked to choose three courses from a menu provided in advance, and I chose home-made chicken liver pate with red onion jam and sourdough bread; roasted sirloin of beef served with roast potato, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and red wine jus, and for pudding apple tarte tatin with vanilla ice-cream. I'm sorry to say that the food was a considerable disappointment: The pate had no discernible flavour so the blob of red onion jam was most welcome, but aside from (delicious-looking) bread rolls served in a basket I don't recall having any sourdough bread. The beef was overcooked and so tough I couldn't cut it, and managed only the softest bits of the two slices (in fairness, my brother, who was seated at another table, enjoyed his beef). Two halves of a small roast potato were hidden under the beef as were some small pieces of boiled carrot and French bean. The red wine jus had all the hallmarks of instant gravy from a jar (glutinous, and with unidentifiable dots in it), and had been poured over everything on the plate. The Yorkshire puddings looked marvellous, but I gave mine to a fellow guest so can't comment on that. The apple tarte tatin was *delicious*!! Sadly it was only about four spoonsful, and the modest scoop of vanilla ice-cream, equally delicious, was almost completely melted by the time I received it. I think there were only three waiters; it's not a surprise that there were long delays in service. The reason I didn't comment on these shortcomings in the food was that I was sitting next to the host, my cousin, and he and his wife chose Donnington Manor because that's where they held their wedding reception, forty years previously."

"I ate here one afternoon last month whilst I was staying up in London at the Novotel on Canary Wharf. I had seen this place featured on a TV programme. It looked to be in a very interesting setting and I do like this style of place. As I said I was staying on Canary Wharf and it was actually a very straightforward journey using two buses to arrive just a few hundred yards away from the entrance to Trinity Buoy Wharf where the diner is located. This whole area is yet another where there is a huge amount of development going on with the construction of apartment blocks. The Wharf itself has seen development with several units now operating as small businesses. The other feature worth mentioning is the superb view from the Wharf of the O2 Arena opposite and the giant skyscrapers of Canary Wharf in the mid distance. So to the diner itself and it really is a great place to eat. I don't know if it's an original or a reconstruction but it's a 60's style American diner that you see in films and photos of that era. The menu is fairly extensive and is of course centered round the ubiquitous burger but there are many other choices including salads for the healthy eater! There are breakfast options as well. A burger was just fine for me and I chose one with cheese and bacon together with the usual other trimmings and fillings. A very large portion of tasty fries accompanied it. To complete the true American style I had a lovely milkshake with it. The food arrived in good time and it was a pleasure to eat whilst looking out at the view. You can even see the cable car ride that crosses over the Thames very close by. I finished off with a nice cappuccino and the total bill I thought was very reasonable. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place if you like this style of restaurant and I really hope to go back again one day."

"Friday night. we decided to drive away from the chip shops and go for a sitty diner. I have the bangkok veggie burger (veggie patty in brothkrümeln) who came with salat and fries. the boy has the Scottish burger (befpatty, pfeffersoße and haggis) with chips and salat. for a few pages we have tweeper rings and koleslaw. the plates were big, what I'm doing, because I'd rather have food than barely. I also had a few cocktails. frozen pina colda (yum) banana martini (double yum) bakewell (yum) as you can see, the banana martini wins with the double yum. both the boyf and I fired our burgers. they were delicious. the riders were also really good, crispy and fluffy. the atmosphere was beautiful. the bar wasn't too busy, but it was the area. really nice, friendly staff too. and the prizes are not so blackmailed. I was about 40 pounds, but that's because I went to the cocktails. was nice to come here to change. I would definitely come back here. with, or without the young. no pictures of our meals/drinks. I'm sorry, next time"

"If you go here, don't get the burgers. I don't know if the meat is good, but the vegans are always dry, salty and all the times I was here, the staff made a mistake how to put milk cheese on things. The pages are pretty good, fried pickles and nachos were a hit, but everything else is a small Bland. This place used to be so busy and now it's always kind of empty.. Maybe it's the food."

"We found this smashing cafe on our way to the holiday cottage we had booked. What a find. The staff are so lovely and friendly and the food they serve is fabulous. OK its not haute cuisine but who can complain about the generous portions of yummy chips all golden and crispy on the outside and all lovely and floury on the inside, the miriad of locally produced flapjacks and bakes, and the the spicy and warming soup. Then saving the best for last we stopped off before we headed home for the bestest veggie patty in a bun ever. The cafe is practically on the beach and of course doggie friendly. Thank you to all you lovely people at Poldu beach cafe. We have booked the same cottage for this time next year so we can enjoy visiting you again. Can't wait."

"I used this subway several times and it is my preferred subway in portsmouth. I tend to roast chicken salad and to love the fresh salad, especially spinach, who do not all subways (although an increasing number do.) they remembered my preferences, which always make you welcome. on my walk home with my salad I thought about it; they remember their preference and they feel welcome; they remember their preference because they visited several times because they liked the service. cannot they get a clearer recommendation for a place than that?"

"The only good thing was the cheese they used. Came here for the second time, terrible service, horrible smell (mixed with toilet, detergent and fried food. Asked them to change my glass two times because they were not clean. Hopefully I haven’t cought any bacteria."
