"This is a pub from my childhood. I spent many hours playing in the garden and feeling very welcome. The chap who served us was nice. First... The pizza was nice. The burger was bland. The scampi was lots of air and little scampi. The calamari was not even eaten. The chips were too salty. The chips where over fried like they had been left in the fryer and fried again. All in all the good was not worth the £52 spent (not including drinks)! How do you get fried food so wrong! We told the waiter and you would have though a manager would have come out. Nope! Such a shame, but in a village with so many pubs, I would go somewhere else."

"Booked a table the day before our visit when we arrived there was no record of it. A lot of meals on the menu were not available. We eventually were given a table in the pool table area and the language from people in that area was appalling and we had two eight year old with us. Would not recommend for a family occasion."

"Sorry to say, was disappointed with Sunday lunch today at the Earl of Chatham. Usually it’s very much like a home cooked roast. But today was not good. 1. It was cold, the cauliflower cheese was cold and the general gravy and meat was cold. 2. The pork was tough, or the knife was not sharp?!3. No crackling4. Usually the roast potatoes are perfect. But sadly, not great today. 5. Gravy was thin and tasteless. It’s a shame as we could always ensure a good roast at the Chattham!"

"Got a Groupon deal for 2 steak dinners and drinks for 2, got there and they had no licence to sell alcohol so was 2 soft drinks and they had a sign up for a steak meal for £7.50 which is strange as I paid £22 for my 2 which was supposedly a saving from £52.80 so felt ripped off right away but though I would give the food a try, paid £3.45 for 4 very small pieces of chicken pakora as a starter which was ridiculous and then came the main course which tasted like it had been marinated in salt, service was also very slow and when asked about desserts we were told they only had 2 things left as they were very busy, I could not in good faith recommended this eatery to anyone and I will definitely not be returning ."

"I visited the watch in west bay for a brief bite to eat. First off the food is excellent and there is a good range of food to choice from. The location is stunning. It is honestly so nice to sit there by the sea...whilst eating. Charlie. I hope he does get recognised for his hard work. First off his smile made me feel very welcome and you can tell he had a keen interest into helping me and the family out. He was very informative of the specials on and placed us in a nice area. We had a little joke, and he was very sweet towards me and my little girl and of course the other family. He told me what dishes to have as I didn’t know what to choice from. I ended up having the fish curry which was excellent and highly recommend. I did notice he was not only, serving us but on bar, so if the owner or manger does see this you have a brilliant employee who is a very happy chappy. We look forward to coming back and hopefully seeing him again. I will also like to add the other staff are hard working and friendly and also cares for us, I want to make it clear I’m not saying other members are not well versed at there job. Charlie was the person who looked after our table. Overall very happy with the visit. Friendly staff, great food amazing location and just a really lovely vibe."

"Had my 60th Birthday party in the upstairs function room with a buffet and private bar for about 60 guests and found the venue perfect for my needs. The Food provided and service were exceptional . Staff extremely helpful with the planning before the night and again very helpful during the function even helping when we had a problem with the DJ we sourced that let us down at the last minute. The venue assisted us to play our playlist through their sound system which was great Well done to Maranto’s for helping my night to be a happy Memorable one"

"Just arrived back from Tenerife, decided to stop in the Green Man Boutique Hotel, got there about 9ish. Chef Mems greeted us , helped carry our luggage and agreed to cook us a couple of burgers, even though the restaurant was closed. What a meal. Seasoned beef mince moulded into a thick patty, cooked to your preference, topped with 2 types of cheese including parmesan, served with Brioche bun, coated with burger sauce, leaves, red onion and tomato, tempura battered onion rings, homemade coleslaw and thick crispy chips. Possibly, no definately, the best burger I have tasted. Super bar area, great ambience, and super friendly people. If I had a whinge, it would be as simple as adding a scattering of micro coriander on top of the gin and tonic. Little touch but makes the difference. Thank you for a lovely, friendly welcome back to the UK. Definitely a must visit place."

"that was a terrible experience, I'm not a good cook, but I could cook definitiw better than this facility. it was very smoking inside because of the open kitchen and when we opened the door to leave some smoke out of the rude dame, I don't know if it was the owner or the waitress came by and it just shuts down and murmured under her breath! the food was unusable, so when she cleared the teller, I explained what was wrong when I couldn't eat it, she did it again and we couldn't really say what she said, but she was very unpleasant. I would never return there again!"

"Went as a group for a birthday , live local and have gone here so many times before mainly loved it. The last two times I don’t know if it’s a change of ownership or something but service was appalling. Two of our pizzas were not cooked (which we knew wouldn’t be as saw on the screen they were out in the oven for literally one minute! . The dough was still stretchy and sticky and the mozzarella was still in hard chunks! Staff said it was because of the style of pizza being a little smaller for a kid! yet the calezone for an adult was the same! My actual pizza was nice though. Slow service food brought out big gaps in between. There was only us and another table with one person on! So Christ knows how they cope if they have more people! Chef clearly annoyed we had complained about the Pizza! Muttering away. If you don’t cook the food obviously your going to get complaints! Your not doing it for free!! Clearly wanted us to go after this, turned music off clearing rest of restaurant and hovering around to take our plates and drinks, in a rush to get rid of us they threw the birthday cake away we had just cut up for people. They did apologise but didn’t offer to rectify and it’s because they were rushing us out. It was 9.00pm though so maybe they shut at this time I had not checked. Such a shame after many nice nights there to the last two times. Won’t be going again! Also speaking to a few friends they said they had similar experiences there recently!"

"I have become a bit regular in lardo in the last months, usually for lunch at a weekend, but also for occasional weekday dinner. there are a few main reasons for this excellent eating and the warm, attentive team....The annoying thing about lardo is that her pizza is so damn good (I would say the best in london) that it is hard to try something else. the test of a good pizza compound is always the margherita and lardo’s is only exceptionally perfect teig, a rich and generous tomato base and moreish cheese to finish with a hauch basilikum. perfection in simpleness. also their more experimental pizzas (including one with a pumpkin base) are characterized by their taste and their performance. they are brave, but and try to get over the pizzas because their main thing and antipasti are just lovely. I still think of the lemon and ricotta ravioli I had here in february. the personal is just a blessing that is always friendly and very welcoming by young children. the waitress at the weekend was quick to move and put a umbrella when she saw that we had a young one with us. the manager is a wonderfully friendly guy the ultimate host. Whenever we have friends to stay, we go here because we think that hackney represents so well. buon appetito!"

"This is a great pizza place. The staff are welcoming, the food uses good quality ingredients, and the owner is passionate about food, done right and is authentic in what he is doing. Too many places of this size knock out bland, anglicized pizzas. These are Italian in their approach, simple ingredients that do not need to be in your face to be flavoursome. I always chose a margarita for my first visit to any pizza place if they can do that well, the others will most likely be good as well. The standard sized pizza on hand stretched sour dough was a generous size, the large is a monster, at least 20 and a really impressive beast. They do something really sensible with the large pizzas, they treat it is quarters and you can have different topping on each quarter. Unless you have an unhealthy sized appetite, these large ones are for sharing the quarters approach reduces the risk of arguments and maximises the opportunity to try different toppings. The whole place is clean, well presented and feels good. What really impressed me was the fact that this place not only serves good honest food they do it with honesty and integrity. The group on the table next to me were also newbie to the place and they order two of the large. This was a mother, grandmother and two small kids. The Owner spotted that this was likely to be too much food and rather than cashing in on the order he sent over the large pizza serving board to show how big they really are. Needless to say, they reduced the order to one large and a standard. I left before they finished but I am beating there was at least half the big pizza left when they were stuffed. I will definitely be returning when I am in the area. Thanks for a great meal."

"No complaints from me! The food was delicious and importantly it was nice and hot. I used to be a chef in a 5 Marriott hotel and I enjoyed the meal. These are just some constructive comments for you to consider: Just a tiny little bit of greenery in the form of some salad leaves etc, served with the calamari would be a beautiful touch. The calamari itself was wonderful but… Very ”same-ish” and repetitive. Just break it up a bit with something else (a tiny amount) on the plate. It’s an 8 starter approx and you can do that without massively denting your margins. the seabass main dish that we both had… We thought was fantastic… So well done to chef Luke! Personally, I also appreciate the generous touch of providing me with a few more potatoes. I am a one diabetic and I know when I looked at the plate having injected, the very small amount of potatoes that were originally provided would not be enough for me…. So again I appreciate our lovely waitress Liga and Chef Luke combining to bring a more normal portion of the same potato dish so that I could eat it with my meal. Finally we were first seated in a booth… But unfortunately this was right underneath one of the speakers that played music. I asked the first waitress that had seated us if the music could be turned down. She told me that unfortunately she had no control over the music level. I think this needs to be changed as in the end we had to be moved… Music should be distinctly in the background and not invading your meal experience.It was too loud and also in my opinion not gentle but way too lively… We had come for a meal not to a nightclub! These are just constructive feedback points that I hope you will take in the spirit that they are intended. Our waitress was Liga. Now she is an absolute asset to your company… she went out of her way to accommodate us helped us to move tables when the music was too loud and sourced the extra potatoes for me for my main course. What I liked about Lea was that she treated us like individuals… Not just a number. She was personable and professional throughout a great ambassador for Zizzi And she deserves to be recognised for this. She made the meal experience the best it could be. Thanks Liga from Latvia The food tasted great. I’ve only given three stars rating to the atmosphere as the music didn’t help and there was I think only two other tables in the whole restaurant with us so it was a neutral atmosphere during that time. "Went to Ciao Amici for pre Illegal Eagles/Hippodrome evening meal (13/08/24). Booked for 4 at 5.30pm. We had table 6, just inside the door with the windows fully open, onto the pavement. Place was packed had a great atmosphere. 2 chicken/oregano/tomato sauce 2 chicken/mushroom sauce ordered given the amount of clientele, came quicker than expected. The staff were welcoming, pleasant attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We'll definately be back. Thank you all so much, 10 out of 10."

"My first experience at this restaurant after the change in management was a pleasant one. The new owners were very nice and welcoming, and the pizza has improved significantly. While the place could use a renovation, I understand that they have just started and I am willing to give them time to make improvements. I would definitely return for the pizza. Overall, for dinner, the price per person ranges from £10-20. I would rate the food a 4, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 4."

"I was on the phone explaining what I wanted for minutes, was simple what I asked for chicken goujon and chips with cheese. They gave me a massive tray of chips, and massive chips with cheese and goujions, came fast,had a couple of bites...and was very sick all night, couldn't stop throwing up. but they robbed me if they just listen to my order properly, instead of making there own orders! "I hadn't been here for a few years, but wanted a quiet family meal including a 4month old. The service was excellent, very attentive without being annoying. The starters whitebait and insalata were lovely. Mains Vitello Saltimbocca and Alpino calzone folded pizza were very good. What let the meal down were the spaghetti dishes we had. The spag was very overcooked, and the tomato/cream sauce was miniscule a lot like eating tinned spaghetti but drier. Also, we all had tiramisu to take away for our dessert. This was very disappointing very little cake, far too much cream and no grated or powder chocolate to be seen. Tescos is better, and a lot cheaper!"

"The food is appalling the chips are soggy the onion rings taste soggy wet and vile. The pizza had no flavour and the samosas are just fried pastry that in no way shape or form tastes like a samosa. "The Minster Inn in York is quickly becoming a top favorite of mine. It is conveniently located just outside the park and every time I visit, whether with family or friends, we are always greeted warmly, especially by the main American guy with a beard who provides excellent customer service. The drinks selection is superb and during my last visit at the end of June with my brother and friend, we tried the pizzas for the first time and they were delicious. The beer garden out back is also a lovely spot. I will definitely be returning on every trip to York, starting on August 24th!"
