"We decided to book for our Anniversary and arrived a few minutes early to be greeted by a very polite and welcoming man. We were seated right away and informed that James would be serving us. James took our drink order and gave us time to decide on our food. He checked for any allergies at our table, and I mentioned my crustacean allergy, though I had eaten at Miller Carter before without any issues. Our starters, sticky chipotle chicken, were absolutely delicious. Our main course, a perfect medium rare steak with skin-on fries and beef dripping sauce, was also excellent. We were too full for dessert, but James offered it to us anyways. Our experience at Miller Carter has always been good, but this time was extra special thanks to James. Despite being busy with a large party, he was attentive to all the other tables as well. There are about 40 parking spaces easily accessible to the side and back of the restaurant."

"Visited this place after accidentally leaving it too late to go to any other restaurants as they had all closed, but very glad to have come! We both enjoyed the Scotsman burgers, which was very, very tasty. The chili jam gave it such a great flavour, and the chips were also very good. Also shared a raspberry mojito, which absolutely hit the spot. The atmosphere was that of a beer hall with the bench-tables, which I loved but may not be for everyone. We didn't stay long enough but I can imagine it would be a lovely place to hang and have drinks with friends after a long week. Definitely would visit again!"

"Lovely meal, excellent staff but had to wait too long for our table, arrived at 1945 for our 2000 booking, we waited 15 minutes at the bar for a drink as previous customers wanted cocktails and it was 2115 before we were seated, the starter arrived pretty quickly but had to wait ages for our main course, just before 2200 and our dessert arrived at 2235. I appreciate that it was a Saturday evening but it was a birthday celebration. We will visit again, just not on a Saturday."

"Food OK, crab cakes stodgy but tacos said to be good; grain salad stodgy and too salty, fish pie over salty, lobster tails good but neither of us wanted them swimming in butter, makes them difficult to eat with butter sloshing about. "Absolutely fantastic meal once again this year, couldn’t recommend the Mermaid enough. Our table keeps getting bigger each year and the staff and management always welcomes us with a friendly smile. It’s never easy dealing with large parties and this year we were 15, a highchair and the dog. Everyone was serviced with drinks and as soon as a glass was empty there was a waitress ready to get you another. Everyone’s food arrived simultaneously along with those of us that opted for the carvery. There’s not many places these days that serve lamb as an option but the chef told us it’s every week at the mermaid. Kirsty who looked after our table was amazing, she was so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much for her or her colleagues. The food was amazing, drinks a plenty and don’t even think about it, just order the Baileys creme brûlée, it’s the best thing ever!! We’re already looking forward to next year’s family meal and half of us haven’t made it back over the bridge yet."

"Booked on 8th Oct for Festive menu due to weather arrived 4 40 pm checked in then waited in bar. Lady arrived to tell me my booking was to late for festive menu.! And that I had booked A la Carte Service. Food and service was good but should have either cancelled my booking rather than say I had made mistake when booking although both staff members knew booking was for Festive menu.Final insult had drink in bar area after meal rather than move as cold night. Wanted 2nd drink bar till was closed at 9.30 although restaurant was open till 11 I believe. Spent in region of £130. Very disappointed.
