"We stopped for lunch at this piste side restaurant in the Altapura hotel unsure of what to expect. Service was swift and friendly, the menu a delightful change from stodgy mountain fare and the food was simply delicious and beautifully presented. We tried the SnowBowl with Tuna (superb) and the fish and chips -chunks of lightly battered cod perfectly fried (delicious) and finished with an excellent cafe gourmande. The prices were reasonable given the very high quality of ingredients and presentation. The desert trolley looked amazing with immaculate mini patisseries and other yummy things, but sadly we had no room.. we will be back and advise you all to try it, you will not be disappointed!"

Great service, great location, and great value compared with most of the place to eat on-slope, plus a heating boot rack!

Perfect location to stop for a drink or lunch on your way down from the slopes. Sunny terrace with comfortable seets and blankers.

Leaving the restaurant, the 3 who had eaten the pasta started to feel heavy in their stomachs, vomiting and diarrhea all evening: thank you for this good time! Meal type: Lunch

We stopped for lunch by chance and ate in the sun outside (in the bar area the staff were really nice and helpful and the food we ordered was great! The bar has a limited food menu but there is also a restaurant (which I'm keen to try! The food we had was reasonably priced (for the area and is well worth trying if your looking for somewhere to lunch on the slopes! View menu

We 've come here a number of times for lunch and enjoyed doing so again after the Covid hiatus. The restaurant has been renovated and is still one of the best designed alpine spaces, just like the bar area and the hall. unfortunately the welcome is a bit variable, with the host claiming the empty restaurant was for house guests only , before admitting us exceptionellement . Throughout the lunch only two tables were used. The lunch menu is very short, only about 5 main dishes to choose from, but the catch of the day (28 EUR) was pleasant on both days we came. other than the host, all staff was extremely friendly.

Hello, client for more than 10 years in this establishment, I am so disappointed this year... Indeed, the reception is no longer what it was, now the terrace is reserved as a priority to the hotel's client, your acceptance depends on the kindness of the server. They refuse you at 3:05 p.m., to accept you at 3:10 p.m. when they are asked for the regulation that mentions exclusivity to the hotel customer! To increase your chances of being accepted think of you wearing a fox fur. After having NEGOCIATED acceptance, we must now have the art of patience to receive our orders... One thing is certain, I will no longer put my feet back in this establishment.

"This restaurant is one of Val Thorens best kept secrets. Inside there is a gorgeous wine shop bursting with French wines at every price point and style imaginable. There are lovely tables for inside dining, but in sunny ski weather, the terrace right on the...snow is the perfect place to lunch apres-ski. The menu is not large, but don’t let that put you off. The dishes we had were extraordinary. And of an unexpectedly high standard. The frois gras for entree was served with steaming hot bread and a toasted brioche bun. Teamed with the rich but light frois gras, it was a taste sensation. We ate it slowly. The wines by the glass were excellent and we enjoyed a champagne with the entree. For main, the fish was an incredible dish. The fish melted in the mouth and was topped with a slightly Asian style sauce and sat on an ultra light bed of what may have been mashed parsnip and a few vegetables. Heaven. One of the best fish dishes I’ve ever eaten in France. That good. My friend had the beef tartare which was also elegantly presented and a taste sensation with just enough spice, egg and texture. Sitting in the sun watching the skiers, it was the kind of meal dreams are made of. We should have had dessert given how amazing the food was but instead settled on the white hot chocolate made with almond milk. Again a culinary delight pushing boundaries. Can’t wait to eat here again next season."
