"The Brasserie is a pleasant café/restaurant that can feel a bit more formal than I'd like but I'm a more casual diner. I've been for lunch a number of times and I'd welcome the staff to be a bit more at ease, whereas I feel that they feel they need to be formal with us, though they are always courteous. The food is solid but possibly not quite matching the more formal settings. It has a bit of a diner/casual café vibe to some options--I enjoy the club sandwich but I'd prefer it to be 33% smaller and thus a bit cheaper. All that said, it is a reliable place to go for a lunch, if you want to be sure of a good meal and ensure a pleasant ambience albeit a little stuffy."

I discovered my passion for the Lebanese cuisine in this great restaurant on Cowley Road.

Great idea BBQ with live music outside but thank goodness there was room inside as it was raining and to miserable to sit outside. English weather very unpredictable. Very busy so it took a while before our drinks arrived and we felt we were in the way. View menu

Absolutely amazing staff, and food, good to have live music, if just a little to loud, but this is of course subjective. Great value, and ambience, I will return with my family. So good for Wivenhoe to have such a venue. Thank you, please maintain your excellent standards.

Last night, my wife and I had dinner at this restaurant and had a great time. The food was of excellent quality, especially considering it is a bistro. The wine selection was impressive and reasonably priced. The staff were attentive and friendly, creating a pleasant atmosphere for the evening. We definitely plan on returning in the future.

For a group of retired ladies who regularly used the Wivenhoe Brasserie The fish from the fish and chips was so thin it was mostly eating just batter and quite dry, the Caesar salad was drenched in dressing and not very tasty, the quiche was good. Shame the set menu has been discontinued. Overall the food was not good enough to tempt us to return View menu

Everything was delightful except for one thing. We ordered two mocktails, but when we received the bill, we saw that it said cocktails instead. We brought this to the attention of the manager, who admitted that we had been served alcoholic cocktails by mistake. He did deduct the price difference from the bill, but unfortunately, it made me sick for the rest of the night and even into today.

Everyone was lovely, the venue a delight with knowledgeable waiters who gave us an interesting background to the history of Wivenhoe house (and the beautiful cork trees! Our starters were delicious, and the mains wonderful, with a small exception, the bass was a little overcooked. Luckily, my brother was fairly replete with the garlic bread starter which was yummy (We all had a taste... delicious . But a lovely touch giving my younger brother a birthday treat. We will be back, it was a great evening and we left very full and happy. Thank you all x

"Carluccios was my first dining experience out following I was impressed by the measures put in place by the team and how well these were adhered to. I felt completely at ease throughout my meal, staff wore face masks, tables were socially distanced, staff...were visibly washing their hands/using hand sanitiser throughout and the cleanliness of the restaurant was unmatched. It was reassuring to see these protocols in place during these uncertain times. The staff really went above and beyond to deliver the authentic Carluccio’s experience despite the current challenges! My experience was amazing from beginning until end. I was greeted by management at the door and by the wonderful bar team, Gemma and Emma, who made me feel welcomed with their friendly greetings as I shown to my table. I was then greeted by my amazing waitress Sasina, who is an absolute credit to the team! She was so friendly and bubbly, very attentive to our needs and delivered an overall wonderful experience! Our drinks order was taken promptly, we were asked if we had any allergies (very impressive and offered bread and olives to start off with. Once our drinks arrived, our food order was taken quickly without any hassle. Sasina suggested the lasagna for my main with a side of the garlic and rosemary roast potatoes. Her suggestions were superb! Sasina was also very mindful of the fact my guest was a vegetarian, making sure to point out all the vegetarian options (and even went out of her way to get some vegetarian Parmesan cheese Our food came promptly and cannot be faulted. It tasted incredible (big thanks to the amazing chefs We had the garlic focaccia with cheese, tomato bruschetta and calamari to start which was delicious. The calamari is the best I have ever had! And for mains, we had the lasagna and the spinach and ricotta ravioli (which the lovely Sasina was able to change the usual sauce to a tomato one with a side of garlic and rosemary roast potatoes. Our meal was phenomenal and the service was even better! My mother and I will be returning to dine with the amazing team at Carluccios without a doubt! Overall, the restaurant had a lovely, welcoming ambiance. All of the staff were smiley and friendly and all made a point of saying goodbye to us as we left the restaurant. I look forward to coming back and trying more of the mouth-watering new menu! Thank you all for a terrific experience!"

"as you all should know, this girl loves to eat her! So I wanted to try something else I didn't have before. so yak yeti was your turn. I ordered online, although the restaurant is like a 5-minute drive away, (feeling fazy did not want to go to dress up, etc.) so I decided for my starter networks. the food was delivered within 30 minutes, it was still hot, bonus! container that they used were very good, so no spillage at all. popadoms were crispy, went nice with the dips. regarding eating, not only did it look delicious, it also melts delicious. then I tried and o to the m to the g, it was spicy, too spicy in the did that I continued to eat. my mouth has broken the food, as I said, looked delicious, so I tried another gift from the dish shot, still too spicy. Now I have no taste at all, but it is a Nepalese restaurant that they use spiced by many species, I guess. but whatever they use is too spicy for me, if I tried to continue, I would later be in jeopardy, because my just don't do spicy food. as a girl who loves to eat, I will not destroy this restaurant just because I cannot tolerate spicy foods. in future I will notify the restaurant to add not seasoned over very mild to future orders. this restaurant has a very good high review online so I encourage them to try it for themselves, just remember that eating can be sharp. otherwise they hope a wonderful day! love as always justine xxx styleoutyourhome"
