we go to find matteo and his family every time we are in the area, because for us it is always a guarantee. all very good: from appetizers to desserts, with special mention for ricotta cake and chocolate that constitutes the pillar of my matteo dinners. It's a special and well-kept place. service? like being among friends, but always with courtesy.

We often go to this agriturismo about 20 mins. from Sondrio in Valtellina. Matteo and his family always serve excellent food and they're really nice. They always come up with new recipes to throw in the mix. If you go, try the tagliatelle (fettuccine) with poison ivy sauce (yes, for real), my favorite, or the ravioli di magro with grated lemon peel. Matteo also produces his own Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo (red wine) which is a must. Santa Maria is perched at about 900 mts asl and you can enjoy a fantastic view of the valley and its mountains.
