"Having recently moved to the area, I was introduced to this hidden gem by a family member and now understand why the locals keep it to themselves. Located on a small side street in Alcombe, away from the seafront, this old-fashioned fish and chip shop is family-run and provides a warm and friendly welcome to all customers. The service is excellent, with everything cooked fresh to order and no stale food sitting under heat lamps. The establishment is spotlessly clean, offers a wide selection of menu items, and serves top-quality, delicious food. The only downside is parking can be a challenge during peak times, but the overall experience makes it worth it. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else as this place truly is the best."

At the age of 66, I’ve just eaten the best fish and chips of my life. Parking was a little bit tricky but absolutely worth the effort. Perfect.

The food here was amazing and you get alot for what you pay for. The cod bites could be shared between 2 or 3 of you! Would definitely recommend View menu

Have used this place a few times now and the food is absolutely beautiful! Staff are extremely friendly and the prices are fantastic! Lots of vegetarian and even vegan options too that the other local chippy doesn't have.

I chose this restaurant for holiday fish and chips after reading positive reviews on TripAdvisor. It was definitely a good choice; the haddock was firm and flavorful, the chips were excellent, and everything was cooked fresh to order.

My wife and I often visit this restaurant when we are in Minehead. The fish and chips are always high quality and the prices are very reasonable, especially during the pensioner special lunchtimes. The staff are friendly and they offer a good selection of soft drinks. View menu

Just had fish and chips from Alcombe Fish Bar and it was lovely. We had fish and chips x 2 and a small fish and chips for my 2 year old with curry sauce and mushy peas. We are on holiday at Butlins and drove 7 mins to the fish bar. Well worth it. The people that work there were very welcoming and friendly. Definitely visit if you are in Minehead.

I was working in Minehead, and was struggling to find anywhere to park near the fish and chip shops on the seafront. I gave up after a while and decided to head back home. On my way out of Minehead, I happened to spot a small sign on the corner of a building on the road, pointing to the direction of Alcombe Fish Bar. What an absolutely perfect chippy. The guys there were so nice and pleasant, and we had a lovely chat. I left with my cod and chips, and found a suitable spot to tuck. Bloomin’ lovely, or as I usually say ‘guuuuurt lush’ 10/10 Would highly recommend this great little hidden gem

"Yet again we needed to celebrate having resolved a long standing technical problem. The pub in Brompton Regis came up in discussion the evening before when our neighbour was around for a glass of wine. He said that before coming to our village he’d looked at houses in Brompton Regis. He left and we booked a table. Friday was a damp day but we were not deterred as we drove up into the Brendon Hills, usually distant views greet one but this day the clouds were dominant. However as we descended from Roborough Gate towards Wimbleball Lake we could turn off the wipers. By the time we crossed the bridge at the top of the lake a shaft of sun broke through and sparkled across the surface of the water whilst light wisps of mist kissed the shore line. Rounding the churchyard wall always raises our expectations for there is the George Inn. The bar door was hardly open before Tash, a beaming smile, greeted us with a price board for ‘COFFEE’. I said in my previous review that I wouldn’t mention coffee at the George again, sorry, but I must. The coffee machine had arrived the day before. Well done Tripadvisor the George! We had a wonderful starter of Baba Ganoush, new to the menu that day. It was exceptionally good with delicate flavour. Following on was chicken breast and pasta with tomato sauce, again great flavour though my wife found it a little too greasy. My Bengal curry was fantastic and a most generous serving. Our ‘Desert,’sic, was Chocolate Ganache with pistachio ice cream under crunched nuts. I had the steamed maple syrup pudding set in a delicious whisky sauce, a very delicate and light texture, just right to finish on after the curry! Of course we had our long awaited espressos from the new device, a delicious finale to our meal. Earlier in walkers had dropped in wanting a coffee. Now all on Exmoor should be heading to the George for their ‘hit’."
