"We waited quite a while for our meal to arrive, it was a Friday evening, yet the restaurant was deserted and the ambiance a little subdued. When the meals finally arrived to say I was disappointed was an understatement, it was one of those meals, pretty, but tiny, more like a starter than a main, a medium plate with an island of two small lamb chops, two very small thin carrots, a tablespoon of pureed peas and a potato oblong with a couple of drizzles of black sauce dotted about. I tried to savour every mouthful, but it still only took a few minutes to eat, tasty, yes, but left me still very hungry, at £21,50 I didn’t feel it represented value for money and yes, I could have had a starter, sides, desert and a glass of wine, I’m sure would have left me more satiated. At quite a considerable cost?"

Very much enjoyed our Sunday lunch. Bumped into a few friends who were also having lunch there which made it even better. Lovely atmosphere and excellent food. View menu

Excellent food, friendly staff, good service. Experience spoilt only by loud talking couple who were having professional meeting, just next to open double doors to the bar, which carried right across the restaurant to me. Not good for my enjoyment or ambience.

Lovely welcome, very friendly and helpful staff, spacious table arrangement, and excellent food and service. Our occasion was spoilt only by a selfish customer who was sitting unnecessarily close to our table, and whose phone rang loudly and repeatedly. Why, oh why don't restaurants insist that phones are set to silent?? View menu

My husband and I went for Sunday lunch. My husband chose the lamb roast dinner and I chose nut roast. His lamb was served with two burnt potatoes and the vegetables were poor. The waiter did not ask if we needed anything else so I had to go find her in the bar and ask for mint sauce and I was told I would get vegetables with my nut roast I was told it would get sorted. The mint sauce was bought to the table after my husband had finished and I had no veg just a nut roast and beetroot. The whole experience was very poor and we will not be returning to this restaurant.

Restaurant was confusing to find as it is based within a retirement village (which isn't advertised). Staff were welcoming and friendly. We were told there had been a mix up and the kitchen hadn't been advised that we were there for afternoon tea so we would have to wait up to 45 minutes -we were however given a complimentary glass of prosecco. When our afternoon tea arrived (about 25minutes later) the waitress dropped a couple of items off the tray on the floor, we were told they would bring replacements but they never arrived. Beautiful views, beautiful dining area, although we were the only customers. Good selection of sandwiches and cakes, it's a shame some items were missing.

"Visited the Restaurant for a Birthday Meal (June 2021 . Service was rather slow (perhaps it was the relaxed atmosphere? and a complimentary aperitif of a butternut squash whip, served in a small coffee cup, looked rather like something you find on the end of a tissue. The fillet of beef was served luke-warm, but nevertheless, it was beautifully presented. The portions (yes, this is fine dining, so you don 't get much anyway were slimmer than Victoria Beckman 's legs ! Having waited over 30 minutes to eventually place an order for desert, it was easy to believe, that the staff had gone off to a local fruit farm to pick the ingredients for the tart. An experience ? Absolutely yes. One to repeat ? 100% No. Now, the Hotel was spotless and looked great, but if this is fine dining, you can keep it. If you like the snobbery of spending £4 for a potato cut into six 'thick chips ' or, for the same price, half a dozen cherry tomatoes you can buy at Marks Spencer for £1.00, warmed in a pan, then you will feel well at home here. I 'm no Gordon Ramsey, but to pay such a sum for what some would regard as Michelin star food, the saying: a fool and his money are easily parted springs to mind ! This Restaurant gave us the feel of a Basil Sybil style set-up from Fawlty Towers, which made light entertainment of what turned out to be a rather disappointing evening. Recommended ? No. Would we return ? No. Perhaps the owners will be grateful to read. that we would not be returning (who needs customers like us ? , but the fact remains, that this was an expensive experience, not one to be repeated (at this Restaurant anyway and this has proven a valuable lesson. All that glitters is not gold and the Restaurant is over-rated and expensive for what is delivered. So, you pay your money, you take your choice."
