"Saw this place as we were walking to Peasholm Park as it’s just opposite the Columbus Ravine entrance. As I’d been fancying a proper green salad, it seemed a good place to stop. Wow. Just wow! For under £10 we got two large salad boxes, one with meat, a quiche, and two sodas. Absolutely the best option so far in our week of seaside holidaying, so much so that we are popping by there in the morning, on our way out of town, to get another lunch parcel to take for our picnic as we make our way south. With cobs starting at under £2 and hot meals under £4, why would you have a supermarket sandwich or “salad”?"

We got our lunch from there and took it back to the Scarborough Cricket ground (Yorkshire were playing).

This shop was the find of our holiday, good food at very reasonable prices no wonder there’s always a queue out of the door at lunchtime

Great place to get either a sandwich or a fresh salad, I did both during my 4 days in Scarborough and was not disappointed. A large salad with meat on it was only £3.25. And they have all the extras you could ask for... View menu

We wanted somewhere near the ground for a lunchtime sandwich. We'd been here before and, again, were very pleased. There is a wide range of fillings with the sandwiches being freshly made to order. Service is pleasant as well.....which goes a long way in this day and age

Alongside the top of peasholm park away from the crowds this alfresco cafe is a must. We had freshly made sandwiches with all the ingredients in the cabinet for you to choose from. Great prices for hot and cold sandwiches. Lovely homemade cakes too. We will definitely be back !!! Thank you.

Just visiting Scarborough for the day and we come out of the park to find this place. Took me back to the old school kind of cafes my nanna used to take me when I was a kid! Lovely food that I really enjoyed! Just had a roll, kids liked there rolls and my partner had a hot ciabatta and said it was lovely! Cheap and cheerful and very busy so obviously good! I wound highly recommend for fuss free food! View menu

What a great value little cafe this is! We have just returned from Scarborough after a 10 night stay and this is the best cafe we visited by far. The salads are fab, the lasagne to die for, but the waffle with cream, stawberries and nutella is amazing. Wow!! The staff are very friendly and prices are great value. There is a seating area outside and the cafe is situated just outside Peasholm Park. 5 out of 5.

Visited Alfresco last week, after visiting scarborough numerous times, we have never found this little gem of a cafe before! I can honestly say, the waffle with proper cream, strawberries and tones of nutella for 2.50 is the best i've ever had and SO reasonably priced!!! The sausage roll was delicious too and mum and dad had a lovely cup of tea! Will definitely becoming back on our next visit, had a lovely chat with the owners too : 10/10

"This place has positive reviews, so I can only assume they struggle with the busier summer season and standards slip. Despite the places with lovely sea views offering vegan menus, we chose Gianni's, on a back street in town, due to the reviews. We tried to book ahead but the line was engaged (5 times), so we instead tried walking in for an early meal at 6pm. We were shown to a table and 3 menus were presented one showing specials, the other two a folder containing the main menu, a meat menu and the drinks menus. There was a line on the main menu stating that the vegan menu should be requested. The table next to us had new customers brought to it but despite being right next to us, we couldn't get the staff's attention to request the vegan menu. Eventually someone came over asking if we were ready to order and we were finally able to request the menu. One vegan menu was brought to us and we ordered cautiously, given that the table who came in after us already had their starter and it was huge. Depressingly, that menu stated that vegan wines were available, which is what I'd have preferred if we didn't have the beers we'd ordered in the apparent absence of vegan wines. We ordered the foccacia with olive oil and balsamic to share. Two plates were brought to us. They were dirty and greasy. We requested clean plates and the waiter brought two more plates that were also greasy. Clean plates were provided on the 3rd attempt. The olive oil and balsamic are presented in bottles. These are evidently not wiped between customers as both bottles were greasy. The foccacia arrived and was simply the worst I've had. It was dry and stodgy, perhaps made a couple of days before or perhaps even earlier and frozen. We left most of it. The pizza was huge but the toppings had amalgamated into an emulsion like slop, causing the thin base to taste like uncooked dough. The chips were fine, as was the basic side salad. We didn't order dessert after the meal we'd had. The staff are mainly very young people with no one directing them, so they spent most of the time standing in the doorways chatting. They knew to serve the food and clear the tables but they clearly have had little to no customer service training and were not checking the customers had what they needed and were happy. This place is inexpensive and the portions are large, but rather than authentic Italian food, we were left with a sense of quantity over quality."
