"Being from the US specifically Nevada where we have some of the most amazing restaurants. Alston was probably one of the better steakhouses I have been to. I specifically had the bone-in ribeye aka Cote De Boeuf and it will go down as a top 5 Bone on rib eye. We also ordered the mushrooms and they were awesome. In addition had the mashed potatoes and they were rock solid. Truth be told while I was glad the restaurant wasn't busy being a owner of a business I was actually disappointed it wasn't busy because the food was great. I would highly recommend giving this a try and I do not think you will be disappointed. Cheers"

Disappointed I didn’t find this restaurant sooner, will be a regular from now on. Very reasonably priced despite cocktails consumed and wine too.

The Sunday Roast was absolutely delicious; the beef in particular was full of flavour. Super friendly service from both Lesley and Tiff. Will definitely be back!

Had a drinks at the bar and dinner and it was great. Lots of gin and interesting cocktails. It is located just inside the train terminal and is underground and has a speakeasy vibe to it. Reservations are recomemded View menu

Great food, the staff were all very nice gave my parents a bottle of champagne for their ruby anniversary. Is a 10% service charge, I always tip but anyway feel a tip should be a choice, they did mention it but were happy to pay

Excellent food and nice service. Had the chateaubriand (500g) to share, asked for it well cooked and it was cooked to perfection. Sides were excellent too and the butter sauces were really nice. Price wasn't so expensive in the end, 75 for 2 with 2 sides and a bottle of wine, very decent for the food quality provided

8 of us went to the Gin masterclass and had a fantastic afternoon. The selection of the 6 tasting gins followed a clever path linking each to the next and our host was superbly knowledgeable about gin, the background of each selected gin and similar gins. The pace was just right and we had time to enjoy a cocktail at the end. Our group was a mix of gin fans and novices and all had a great time, none had been to Alston before but all will be back. I just want to say that the Sunday roast has a timing window: I was told it wasn't available after 6 PM, but nowhere on the online menu (via Google Maps or Alston's official website) says this. To anyone coming to this restaurant from abroad like myself, take precautions and get here early if you want the Sunday roast. Other than that, there was nothing wrong with my meal: the steak was cooked excellently and the medium rare is impeccable quite possibly the best medium rare I've ever seen.

The food was presented nice enough, we were there on a Sunday and we had the set Sunday Roast Menu which might have decreased the quality, however, my rump was over cooked (I asked for pink) Service wise, they came a few times to check on us, but I actually had to ask for them to remove the dirty glasses after a while. The venue is gorgeous and so it’s the atmosphere. When it came to the dessert the brownie was a bit dry and the Eaton mess was basically just cream… All in all a 3 star review, I wouldn’t rush back, but was ok for the price.
