"A trip to Franken always comes as a pleasure tour: rich food, good wines, beautiful landscape. After many excursions to the area of Volkach and Sommerach, Würzburg really offers itself – especially recommended in October, as already practiced before me StadtLandGenuss. The views of Marienberg Fortress and the Käppele are legendary and almost visual! And if you're standing on the bridge in front of the Old Main Mill, you'll think you'll be abroad, maybe in South France or Piedmont. During our three-day stay in Würzburg, we cannot consume without interruption in the best will, but we still have a beetle of wine. It seems that the many people who drink, chat, laugh with a glass on the Old Main Bridge and enjoy the moment. The bridge with its statues and saints can be considered an absolute hotspot, always well visited. Right on the bridgehead is the Gasthaus Alte Mainmühle, which includes a pavilion with a bridge. In the 1920s there was a kind of power plant and a wave bath. Many new, new buildings and new buildings have made a beautiful place from the historic building, uniquely located, very rustically equipped, with a cozy ambience. Wooden floors, brick walls and very much light through the large roof panels and outlet windows create a cozy ambience. In good weather you should definitely take a place on the balcony with a magnificent view of the fortress. Here you can enjoy Franconian hospitality. The map offers defensive, regional specialties such as blue ridge, pork ridge, sausages, but also exceptional and modern interpretations such as a porcelain with mountain cheese on tomatoes ragout or a flame cake with blood sausage and sauerkraut. In addition, a very impressive selection of regional wines (from the local Juliusspital, citizen hospital or winery on stone, both as quarters or as eighties or as bottle wine. Here you can spend a few days without being boring. Unfortunately, the rooms are located on different levels, so there is no accessibility. The (cleaned and well maintained toilets are located on the upper floor at the rear. On the perhaps last sunny day this autumn we decide to enjoy the wine on the bridge. We choose a quarter of Silvaner (for 4.50 Euro and a quarter of Rotling (for 5,00 Euro). Both wines shimmer so intensively in the afternoon light that you can believe in an optical illusion. The Silvaner keeps aromas of apple and pear, which rotting reminds of strawberries and raspberries. Both wines are served well cooled and generously cast. On the main bridge there is a dense crowd where young and old, locals and tourists meet. There is free live music and an intoxicating view of the Panorama Würzburgs. Strange: While on the other hand every open-air event must be fought hard for the absence of any city festival, everything seems to happen without any problems. Only one should not put his glass on the stone walls unattended. This could politely ask the local “bridge officers” and ask for safe stability (always hold a hand on the glass! A visit to the Old Main Mill is definitely recommended due to the unique flair and the Genius Loci. The service staff acts transparent and grounded, with traditional Franconian charm. One more tip for all descendants: New Year's Eve is offered a special program for which some places were still available at the time of my visit (end of October 2019). If I didn't have plans, I'd let that nice option go through my head. One can hardly imagine a better attitude for the change of the year."

I was afraid that the excellent location might compromise the quality of the restaurant, but no: the service was fast, precise and kind. The food was tasty and honest. The view is simply magnificent.

Charming wine bar and German restaurant right on the river and main bridge. You have a great view of the city and surrounding wine region, awesome bar with a wood burning fire and good food. We came in for wine and snacks. Their potato pumpkin soup was good and regular meals looks great.

We stopped in for a bottle of wine and a nice salad. The ambiance was amazing. We enjoyed a view of the Alremainbrücke and the Festung from our balcony seats. The waitress was very helpful for both navigating the wine list as well as recommending other places to get authentic Franconian cuisine. View menu

We celebrated our civil wedding in this wonderful restaurant and it was simply perfect. From the first contact to the big day, we were treated warmly, professionally and with great attention to detail. The food was an absolute highlight: fresh, refined, beautifully presented and consistently delicious. Our guests are still talking about it today! Even special requests were fulfilled with a smile. The service: unobtrusive, attentive, fast – simply great all around. We felt like we were in good hands at all times and were able to enjoy our day to the fullest. A huge thank you to the entire team – you made our day unforgettable!
