Altes Zollhaus - Menu

Great menu, venue and service. Mashed potatoes, vegetable, fried calf liver, onion rings and apple rings, really good. Not the usual suspects on the usual standard menus! if you watch to have a taste of German regional cuisine, here it is

Traditional cuisine ranging from traditional local and German fare to sophisticated dishes frequently found in first class restaurants. Friendly, warm atmosphere with a helpful, attentive staff. A good place also for business lunches and dinners!

We ate dinner in the garden area. The staff were very friendly and their easy banter made for a delightful evening. The food was hot and delicious. Cooked to perfection. Apparently this restaurant is an area favorite as it filled up fast. Even with a...full restaurant, staff handled it very well. Great place to dine

Gemessen an den Preisen und dem Auftreten des Personals fühlt man sich hier offenbar zu höherem berufen - diese Berufung wird leider weit verfehlt. Einzig positiv hervorzuheben ist das nette Ambiente im Garten. Leider ist der Service verschlafen und die Küche sehr abgeschlagen: Die Vorspeisensuppen waren versalzen, die Kalbsleber ist groß, aber leider von schlechter Qualität und angerichtet mit Tütenkartoffelpüree und Fertigsoße.In anderen Lokalen ist die Zeit und das Geld besser investiert.

The owner described the place as an island in a traffic which is very true. It is a single small building surrounded by heavy traffic streets. You hear the loud sounds of the traffic from AM. Although it is not in the heart of...the city, you can reach anywhere including the airport in half an hour. It has a tram station just in front of the front door and a train station min walk. The place is clean and the room contains all essentials but no minibar or safety box. It supplies drinks and meals with very good price. The staff members are very friendly and helpful though they do not speak English

We had been there with a party of three for dinner. The restaurant looks nice from outside but as we opened the door we entered a shabby looking ground floor. A sign guided us to first floor were the actual restaurant was. It was nearly...fully booked and there was no fresh air. It seemed that all oxygen was breathed away. We had soup with pancake, homemade Pate with Waldorf salad, Chicken Brest and venison goulash. The soup was the best, the chicken Brest had much to much Curry, which dominates the dish. The Waldorf Salad for us tasted like out of a can. Also the homemade pate. The venison was overcooked and dry. The only good at this evening was the special service of the waiter. The food...

Even from the road, the “Altes Zollhaus” looks attractive with its halftimbered exterior. The interior is just as attractive with beamed ceiling, rusticstyle lampshades and a “Gemütlich” atmosphere. The menu isn’t huge except for the menu itself which is very large and I almost had...to hold it at arms length but offers a variety of meat, fish or vegetarian dishes. I had the seasonal offering of Wiener schnitzel with Spargel asparagus and Hollandaise sauce. It was excellent. On the plate there was half a lemon to squeeze over the schnitzel most generous, I thought and, even when I asked for another half it was brought immediately with a smile from the waiter. It's been a couple of years now since our last visit, we were a party of and even then we said how excellent the food and service was. The four of us were there last Sat night, table had been reserved for Parking...was no problem, there's plenty of space off to the right. Restuarant is on the first floor, the friendly waiter took our coats etc and hung them up for us. We we're shown to our table, the friendly smiling waitress looked after us all evening with a very pleasant manner. She was very helpful and gave us good advice when it came to choosing the wines red white . The soup , salad and the snails in garlic butter for starters were very delicious. So last week, the first time I've spent a Sunday in Germany since years, I decided to...take my wife to Altes Zollhaus since it's highly rated in the Frankfurt gourment magazine Frankfurt geht aus in the category bourgoise kitchen.
