"Firstly, thank you for those great reviews that led us to trying this restaurant. We were looking for somewhere to go as an extended family for my partner’s birthday but have been so disappointed in the food in the many places we’ve been, decided to go as a couple to try it out. I felt positive on entering the Ashoka the smiling welcome, the lighting, the interior which was large enough to accommodate a variety of group sizes but still cozy. The food was amazing. That mix of containers you get with papadams was the usual but unusual in that they tasted so good I asked to keep them to eat with my main meal. I ordered 3 side dishes to eat (ordered as side dishes, not main) and, my partner, chicken biryani and a keema naan. I’m vegetarian so ordered my favourite dishes. The word that kept coming to mind as I ate was fresh. The ingredients tasted so fresh. My partner struggled to eat all his meal and had to leave a bit and I asked for my leftovers to be put in containers and am eating now (following day). Still as delicious. Thanks you Ashoka for such good food and a lovely evening. Oh, by the way, you bring your own booze which, for me, is a bonus."

Have'nt been to this place since Covid. . They no longer serve alcohol but you can BYO. The food is excellent, as its always been. The service as good as always. Never disappointed.

We are so lucky to have this Indian as our local, for both eat in and take out. Knocks socks of any other Indian restaurant and you always find yourself comparing anywhere else to Ashoka and the other place never matches up! View menu

This is a very impressive restaurant. Warm welcome, excellent service and best of all was the food. This is a cut above most Indian restaurants all dishes perfectly cooked and great flavours. I can give this a strong recommendation

The guys in the Ashoka are so nice and helpful. I turned up there Saturday night, admittedly drunk, but they let me order their fabulous Shashliks, and they sorted out a taxi for me. Not only is their food wonderful, but they look after people as well, I really appreciate what they did for me. They are a wonderful asset to Bridgend.

Very disappointed with Ashoka this time around. We’ve ordered from here before were let down this evening. The Paneer Mattar was basically full of peas we received a meat dish (we are pescatarians) weren’t even offered a complimentary refund or dish/side for making us go out of our way to travel down to the restaurant again. Very disappointed. View menu

BYOB. Dropped into the Spar (100yds down road) and picked a four pack of Cobra. Service was great, food was really good. Great selection (generous portions) of dips for the popadoms. I had my standard lamb jalfrezi, pilau rice and garlic naan. The jalfrezi was tasty with a bit of heat, but not ridiculous like some are. Generous portion of meat in the curry too. Definitely recommend idm you are looking for a curry in Bridgend.

My birthday so my wife decided to book Ashoka for 4 of us, never been before. The restaurant itself was very pleasant the waiters were very courteous things we're looking up. The food arrived poppadoms to start. good chutney tray better than my usual restaurant , then the main dishes. My food was ok in itself but it was Luke warm which spoiled everything I had to eat it as soon as possible while there was still some heat in it this is very poor the others didn't comment and I didn't ask them whether theirs was hot enough so for me I shall never return and cannot recommend the restaurant for meals.

"So came here last night 13th oct. 9 of us 2 of which 2 young kids. Had starter , calamari this was ok, sauce was nice. Main was lovely which was lasagne really quite tasty it came with chips which were nothing special if im honest, i ordered a side of garlic bread with it which was nice, The host was a nice guy very chatty, the staff seemed a little clumsy if im honest, just as we sat down a tray of drinks went down the back of my sister because the waitress wasn't looking what she was doing although accidents do happen so no biggy, although I will say nothing was offered! No extra drinks, a free starter, nothing!!! This brings me on to the cost. Not much beer choice at all, consisting of draught peroni which was are you sitting down) £6.50 a pint! So I ordered a bottle of bishops finger which i thought was a 500ml bottle, it didn't say on the menu the size of the drink which i think it should have, Well the bottle came and it was a 330ml bottle!! £4.70 for a 330ml bottle!!! im sorry but thats to much, come on guys. We all had a starter and a main with dessert each, i had the newyork cheesecake, which was ok but tasted abit like something frozen, didn't seem home made to me anyway. The Total bill came to just over £400!!! £60 of which was a service charge i was told by someone on the table, but the owner has now said that there was no service charge so if this is the case then i apologise), we were a decent size group but you know when you've gone somewhere and feel that the cost is just too much. Nice restaurant but too expensive imo."
