"If you are shopping like mad for ceramics in Deruta and the clock strikes 1:00pm all the stores close. Time for lunch. We asked our shopkeeper where we should eat, and he quickly recommended Asso id Coppe...”All the truck drivers eat there. You can’t go...wrong.” So midway between Sud and Nord exits for Deruta on the E45 is a gas station [access from the northbound lanes] and behind it sits and unassuming hotel and restaurant. It was Sunday afternoon and the place was packed with groups, but they found us a table for two. The crowd was authentic...Italian families out for Sunday lunch. The food flowed from the kitchen in quantifies we could not believe. We ordered roast chicken and received a whole chicken that was delicious. Add a salad and side order of spinach, a liter of mineral water the total came to 24 euros. And we took home enough chicken and spinach for another meal."

the asso di coppe on the way to perugia after a recommendation stopped. you can reach the restaurant/café from the autobahn or from the city of deruta, which has a large parking lot. had the best chocolate donuts we ever had, and at a good price. too busty for trucker and coaches.

what a super lunch at the “Truck Stop”! in all our many years this was our first visit and will not be our last. we had calf, lasagne, spinach, grilled vegetables and house wine. we picked it up with a fabulous dessert in the restaurant that came from pasticceria next door. beautiful meal, beautiful staff! a great lunch! not to miss when shopping in deruta and need a break and bite! many thanks!

like others we came here after a long morning of ceramic shopping in the city of deruta. it came very recommended by elizabeth minchilli who writes a food blog, otherwise I'm not so sure we were here. we even tried the fate by having meeresfruit 3 different possibilities. in a truck stop! we had raw fish, then fish with pasta and finally roasted seafood. all well prepared. the half of the mozen had just come out of the autobahn and the rest seemed to be native. I deserved the stop.

We tried this restaurant after a long morning china shopping in Deruta and having read the reviews on Trip Advisor. It's true, it is a lorry driver's café and also the Carabinieri eat there too but the food is delicious. I had large spaghetti with...truffles and my mother had delicious lasagne with no tomato sauce, also with truffles and mushrooms. The antipasti were enormous, we mistakenly ordered two plates of parma ham and crostini between 3 of us and could barely finish it. Beware however as it is shut for ferr'agosto for 2 weeks.

"I brought my girlfriend because the reviews this place. We had the most unpleasant experience ever I could not believe what happened. This might sound a long review to read but I really had to be precise so we can prevent this for happening again. 31/12 at 2pm We arrived and we were welcomed by the waitress and we got a table. We had to wait 45 minutes to get the food, which was quite long for “gnocchetti” and an “Umbria soup”, considering we were only 3 tables (6 people in the restaurant. During this time, we were also served by an old man, the owner. He acted rudely, not only to us but also to a german couple in front of us. This was just the beginning… 2:45pm We received the food and started eating. 3:15pm I had to take a call for work and considering that there was nobody else in the restaurant, I asked to the waitress if I could no problem for that. I took the call. At that moment, we had just finished eating and ordered a coffee. At this time things started escalating. The owner was going around his restaurant WITHOUT a mask (breaking Italian covid regulation and started complaining that he had to close to eat so we needed to get out. I have never seen someone working in a restaurant so impolite and aggressive. He knew that I was on a call and he was, on purpose, talking very loud, making noise and moving chairs. He then started SMOKING inside the restaurant, on another table in front of us. I was on this call and I could not react, I was just waiting to be done to get out. 3:30pm The call finished, we had already paid. The man was looking at us, with loud and aggressive voice saying that he had to close, that he did not eat at all and that we were late (but the served us 45 minutes after we made the order.. . I mentioned to the man, while leaving that that he should not probably deal with the clients directly because all that he did not only created a terrible experience but also was against the law (no mask and smoking inside a restaurant open to the public . While we were going towards the door he also started saying bad words in italian (I am italian and from a close village to me and my girlfriend. Then he smashed the door hitting with the door the foot of my girlfriend that was leaving the restaurant. I then look at him from the outside. He came outside, very aggressively saying: “what do you want! Just get out of here..” and swearing to us. He got close to me to a point that I felt threatened. We left and we were quite shocked of what just happened. This has been by far the most unpleasant experience I have ever had. After all this, I learnt that nobody from the village goes into that restaurant because the aggressive and unpleasant behavior of the owner."
