"Situated to the side of the Abbaye which is well worth a visit we booked their special lunch on the Sunday that the Tour de France passed through Hambye. Expecting it to be fully booked we were surprised on entering to discover we were almost the first diners. Albeit it was 12 noon but the tour was coming through about 1300. We were delighted to have a window seat which was openable which greatly added to our enjoyment as the tour raced by. Many thanks to the owners. The special menu was a limited menu but oh so good. A choice of 2 starters 3 mains and 3 deserts at 18 euros. A bargain so we celebrated with a few bottles of the house rose'. We have eaten here before and have always enjoyed it. The service is good, the young staff friendly and the ambience pleasant. On our last visit I would say that the Brits outnumbered the locals. Where do the locals eat if not here? You do need to be able to speak some French as rather surprisingly the staff speak little English. Not a problem for us but perhaps for some.We will be back in France in August so will be returning with friends"

Beautifully presented freshly-cooked food, served professionally and accompanied with a good wine from their extensive list. On a Tuesday night here in mid-September it was full! Cannot praise it enough

The best restaurant in this area within 50 K around. We have sampled the food there many times this year.Staff very correct and friendly, choices of menus and food is tops.Wines out of this world, a little expensive but correct for this establishment.Give this a try, you won't regret it.

After touring the local Abbaye ruins we dined at this restaurant which is within walking distance of the Abbaye. We did not realize how upscale it was but they accepted us with our baseball caps and informal dress. We had the Risotto, duck, lamb and foie gras which were all excellently prepared. For dessert we got the apple crepes and Creme brûlée which were excellent.

Absolutely delicious food, beautifully presented and very reasonably priced. We chose the €47 menu which is 4 courses (starter, main, cheeses and dessert)Could not fault the food at all, I do however think the decor, and lighting wasn't brilliant, it's so bright in the dining room for dinner, it could do with dimming down the lighting to give it an atmosphere to match the exquisite food.

We chose the Gardens of the Auberge menu at 29 euros. My wife had six excellent oysters, and I had a risotto of Pont l'Eveque with local andouille which was unexpectedly delicious. Then we had quinea fowl breast stuffed with dried apricots and a cider sauce. We finished with pancakes flambéed in Grand Marnier. The whole meal was served pleasantly and efficiently. We can't wait to return!

We have been here before when it had different management. This time we had dinner and a couple of hours later I was violently ill. My wife, who is disabled, went to see the management but they were completely indifferent to me being sick. Fortunately we live quite close so I was able to drive home. I remained in bed for three days with what I believe to be food poisoning. They did not answer my email. I understand the restaurant has recently been closed as a result of other cases of food poisoning. I hope the Logis organisation sort this place out as in was once a great place to eat.

9 of us had dinner here and 2 of the group were vegetarian and we all know that can be a big ask in some parts of France :) I did have to give the restaurant a heads up and they offered a couple of options for our veggie friends and apparently, they were delighted. The whole group agreed the food and wine were of a very high standard and we all had a very enjoyable meal. I would recommend getting there a bit early and have a couple of drinks on the terrace before dinner. You can also just go for drinks in the summer in a lovely setting. The staff are super helpful and very professional.

We have eaten twice at the Auberge de l'Abbaye and enjoyed our meal each time. it was not too expensive and was exceptional. The food was excellent and the service unobtrusive but quick and friendly. The setting, near the Abbey de Hambye, was very pretty and with the Abbey car park close by, parking was simple.Over the years we have visited the restaurant a handful of times, and never been disappointed. It has certainly maintained a very high standard. Our only slight, and I really mean slight, disappointment was with the dessert - the crepes were not flambeed at the table, and the flavour of the brandy was not as intense as it could have been

The Auberge is just next to the ruined Abbey at Hambye, in a quiet rural part of Normandy. The dining rooms are light and spacious, so even when they are full, it remains calm and fairly quiet. The auberge has an a la carte menu as well as fixed priced menus. We went for a fixed priced 4 course menu for 40€ and we were very satisfied. The entree of langoustines was probably the weakest the meal, but the veal main was succulent and beautiful, there is a traditional cheese cart to choose your cheeses for the cheese course (all local cheeses too, which is a nice touch), and several choices for dessert. Drinks are also well priced. Service was a little lacking at the start, but it did get better...
