"They think of France and pictures of magnificent culinary delights spring to think, the epicentre of gourmet cuisine, a kaleidoscope of aromas sprinkled with a touch of je ne sais quoi... Now think again mate! After spending two weeks on holiday with our Gallic neighbors, I was constantly surprised at the poor quality food and poorer service we met. This place made my vacation lights roll, come at the 2nd worse place where we dived (I am still traumatized by the 1st and have not yet checked). Mont St Michele is a beautiful place, and a day look is a pleasant activity, but it can be very busy, and there is a lot of walking, so tired and hungry we passed on this quirky looking place and entered our appetite. Big mistake. After we sat in the deepest dark corner of the relatively quiet restaurant, we received menus from a waiter who could not speak English no problem with it, we were in France finally and my GCSE pigeon French was tres bien! Food ordered, chicken chaseur for me, gluten-free salad for mademoiselle and pizza for the children. Now I'm a generous reviewer before I see the good glass half full, this type of guy, but when the food finally came minus the salad, it was uninspiring to say the least. Although it was obvious that a dish was missing, it took several requests for them to cobble together a few salad leaves and bring it out. Pizzas were okay, but the chicken was terrible. Scrawny and tough, it was like chewing a piece of leather, the sauce was unpleasant and there was a strange mushroom thing that even Google had no idea what it was. For the food alone, this place would have received a low score, but coupled with the extremely bad service basically they simply did not care, and then the bill, an eye irrigation 95 euros, this was an experience I would like to forget."

After crossing the bay from Bec D'Andaine with a guide, it was a good and welcome stop to have a lunch in this restaurant. It was raining, we order a soup and salade Caesar and we were really happy!

The streets were really crowded so we slipped into this restaurant for a drink. It was pleasantly quiet and peaceful. We had two bowls of cider. We found the staff to be efficient. They also serve meals which looked quite nice.

I really have nothing positive to say about this tourist-trap. The service was horrible, the pizza I ordered from the poor menu was directly from the freezer, the wine was warm and served without water, and on top of it all, the prices were sky-high. I will recommend that you look at restaurants on the north side of the island, they looked ok.

We stayed at the hotel one night, and got the demi pension option. So glad we did because the food saved the hotel stay. The rack of lamb was delicious, as was the ratatouille, the cheese and the desserts. The foie gras was served way too cold, and the wine was not great. Still, the service was fast and friendly (both! In France!) and we had a good evening. I would even say it was some of he better food we had in France. The hotel I would not recommend, burg the restaurant, yes.

We stayed overnight at the Abbey. This was the only restaurant open that was still accepting customers later in the evening. One sweating server for approximately 25 tables (it was off season). We were only served by walking up to the bar and attempting to order directly from the bartender. Chorizo pizza was ok, but made on bought shells. Spaghetti bolognaise hit the spot when you are hungry, but could have used some tomato sauce. For the tourist location where you expect to be gouged, the prices were reasonable. Eat earlier and Avoid this place.

We were a traveling group of 14 from the US, and loved this place because of its charming, old-world nature. It's windows and unique rooms were so much fun. The rooms were nice, widows opening over the main walk way. It was close to the island's entrance, and as such, was good for our group as some could not walk as well up the steep paths. The hotel did not have an elevator and the rooms were on the third floor. The breakfast was very nice, and the service was very good. I am still remembering fondly that night, sleeping with the windows open looking up to the Abby.

We are here tonight a family of five. We were pleasantly surprised. I had a vegetarian pasta which was lovely, my two youngest children has three course meals (veg soup, spaghetti bolognaise and strawberry ice-cream). My partner had a chef pizza (chorizo, mushroom and egg)...and my teenage daughter had a margarita pizza. The pizzas were great and from a wood fired oven. We had a couple of drinks each and the bill came to 96 euros. Considering this is a very busy tourist place we thought this was good value for money. The restaurant was busy but the service was very friendly.

Practically on a whim we decided to drive to Mont Saint-Michel after a long day touring Normandy. This is 90 minutes from Bayeux, but an easy drive..if the weather is good. We went when it was foggy and rainy. Yet it was still manageable and wonderful. The fortress is amazing - you will rarely see something so incredible despite the touristy shops. We dined here after looking at several menus. We had something on the simple side, soup, salad and pizza. It was WONDERFUL. We saw our next-table mates have salmon and they said it was delicious. They also had creme brulee for dessert and it was amazing. The food was served fast, hot and the prices were reasonable. The wait staff all spoke english...
