"Yesterday was my 3rd visit to this restaurant. First time with family a couple of years ago The food was not bad, but very slow. The second time was with my friend The tables were not cleaned and we were the only ones for the whole time we were there, so they can't even say that they were busy to clean the tables. Anyway, I went there yesterday only because our friend who organised the school re union booked this even before I knew of the meeting. The upstairs hall was initially booked for 15 people I believe, but there were 18 of us went. When we got there, we weren't greeted by the staff. The friend who did the booking took us upstairs. The space had a really bad smell, there was a 21st birthday celebration decoration still hanging on the curtain. There was an electric heater connected to a burnt plug point behind my chair! The hall was not in an inviting manner at all. There were not enough chairs, and we waited to see if anyone would turn up to say hello, but no. One of the friends went downstairs to get someone. Eventually when he came, he brought an incense stick and added another table. All this time he did not ask if we wanted any drinks or anything. then he took our food order. Most of the starters came quickly, but we got our plates and cutlery ourselves. We ordered 2 veg and non veg each for our mains, but they came in a big tray and no side salads or anything at all. He told us it would only be 15 minutes for our mains to come, but took nearly 45 minutes. We hardly had anyone coming up in between to check if we needed anything. When we were leaving, on one table a few men having some kind of meeting and another table with two guest. After a service like this, no wonder , this restaurant is always empty. Overall, the food here is OK and the price we paid for just starters and main seems reasonable (We only ordered a bottle of coke for drinks) but the service is not good at all."

We came at 18:40 and are still here at 20:05. Why? We had to wait for our food for more than 40 minutes, we had to constantly remind the ONE waiter around about our order. To pay the bill we are still waiting. The waiter would purposefully ignore us and take orders of other customers, prolonging our time here. Even now, no apology or decency to try and improve service.

visited the banana leaf restaurant but the service was dreadful nearly left each course took at least 30 minutes and there were only 2 other people in their. we ordered a bottle of wine which came off the shelf and was not even cool let alone cold. dosa was good and the chutneys but the mutton curry tough and tasteless. could be good but they need more cooks and more staff. tables not cleared straightaway and the floor a mess

Lovely food. The environment is a bit shabby and the service sloppy, but the food makes up for it. Rice dosas were crispy and delicious. A few words of warning. 1) They don't understand wine. It's likely not to be chilled, or exactly what is on the menu! 2) The meat is on the bone so be prepared to pick at it. Really tasty though and well worth a try if you are after a tasty and reasonably priced meal but not looking for posh surroundings. View menu

Freshly deep fried onion bhajis crispy vadas with two cups of steaming hot South Indian coffee on a wet, windy afternoon started off this surprisingly good impromptu lunch. We followed with a onion rava masala dosa masala dosa which came with sambar coconut tomato chutneys. Excellent fresh food...don’t expect too much in the way of service which is functional by the one owner/waiter. Also do wrap up if visiting in winter as it was freezing when we visited. The coffee kept us warm. At £17 for such a beautiful lunch, definitely worth visiting!

They are closed during peaks as they cannot handle peak times of business. Mostly shut on Saturday and Friday evenings as they have limited staff and waiting times are excessive. Don't plan your day around Banana leaf as you are very likely to be disappointed. Sometimes food can be gone especially the meat products. There is only a few staff at this restaurant so if you really want to dine at this restaurant try weekdays when they are open.It seems to be a restaurant cutting costs and finding shortcuts . Very poor service and expensive. However the food can be nice at times depending on the chef.

Arrived at 9pm. Ordered 2 starters and 2 main meals 2 pints of Stella, although I'm not convinced the order was understood. Drinks arrived within 5 minutes. Poppadoms arrived with a minuscule amount of chutney and no mint dip. Asked for more chutney and was told that wasn't finished. I said it wasn't started! One starter arrived after 35 minutes but the second arrived after 50 minutes. Another 2 pints were ordered. Went to the toilet...No toilet paper and nothing to dry hands on...Went into the disabled (My wife is disabled...Hand dryer not working and no toilet paper. . Waited for main meal...Eventually asked if our food was going to arrive before they closed at 11pm. 2 bowls of rice arrive... View menu

I just want to bring to your attention a few observations about your food. Firstly on the phone whilst ordering your order taker has to learn customer service. Secondly the food! The chicken korma was like water! It is supposed to have a creamy consistency. The ratio of rice to the sauce dish was way off and the korma was too salty. The prawn biriyani the rice over cooked but the prawns tasted good! The roti was like rubber and the poppadoms oily. The spinach paneer dish was horrible and tasteless I couldn't eat it and All this for £54.00. I'm a chef for 35 years. I don't complain about what people present in their establishments but sometimes I think the truth be told. You need to talk sit...

Let 's put a couple of things straight before I start. As an Indian Cafe for Indians it is not where one go for good service or inspirational interior decoration . People often often forget outside the major conurbations there are not many cafes restaurants serving Dosa. There is ONE where we live (40 minutes drive from Ilford) and it is expensive and not worth going. We wanted to have Dosa on Divali Day and went to Banana Leaf for late lunch. As it is near a busy junction, parking is not easy. There are four parking spaces (metre) on the nearest side road. On arrival, there were only a few customers and one waiter. The place is just like any other Indian restaurant, looks clean and tidy. TH...
