"I am usually very careful to don´t stop at any of the so called ,tourist trap, restaurants, cafes, with seats and sun shades all lined up on a busy street, like Bar Levante. Unfortunately the hunger won over us this time, so after a quick...glance at the menu outside we decided to have some food and a beer here. The waiter spoke very good English and he explaned us the vegetarian weekly special they had. We told him we are vegan and asked if it is possible to substitute the white sauce to tomato sauce. He was very accomodating, understood straight away what vegan means and offered to substitute the sauce. There was no cheese mentioned on the description of the meal but we mentioned specifically anyway just in case, that we would not like any cheese on it. You can already guess what happened, of course we got our meals with cheese on the top. After we pointed this out, the waiter offered to take our dishes to the kitchen and take the cheese off the food. His expression was so hostile, that we rather opted not to let him do this, to avoid some other ,added extras, -if you know what I mean- from the kitchen staff after they scraped the cheese off our meal : So we had some of our food where we could take the cheese off. I have to mention here it was not too bad but our appetite was gone already anyway. We asked for the bill after we finished. The waiter did not bring us any bill, instead he told us the price we need to pay he seemed to be reluctant or lazy to get inside to get the bill. He offered to call out the prices and items we had. I asked him to bring us the bill anyway please as it was a bit suspicious of course. As it turned out I was right to ask for the paper bill as they wanted us to pay for an espresso we never had. After our complain he took the espresso off the bill and asked if everything was ok. I could not help but laugh at this point, yes of course everything was allright. He got my sarcasm I think... Yeah pretty long review sorry for that, I just wanted to write down all the details here in case the restaurant decides to reply. Ohhh and btw, I also got pooped on by a bird while sitting at their table! Haha this is of course not their fault, probably the only thing though. I guess just everything went wrong for me what possibly could at Bar Levante. I will be in Hamburg again and I will cross this place only from the other side of the street."

We popped in for lunch, nice coffee and very staff. I had the roast beef sandwich- fabulous , absolutely delicious. They also do soya milk should you want it.

I was walking around and stopped here for a quick bite. The choices were quite limited, the English menu very basic . I had soup, taste was good but had bacon in it and I had to pick them. However, the waiter was quite pleasant...and kind.

went to the café a couple of times now.. and the food is always really good and tastefull..service is great even the waiting time sometimes seems to be a little long.. but who cares .sitting outside in the atrium watching people walk by and enjoy...a nice glass of wine or a coffee....its always nice to relax at Levante bar...

When you find free tables at noon time in the Mönckebergstraße, that should raise some suspicion: Now we know why, because their waiters are completely incompetent. You don‘t need to smile to catch his attention – the waiter ignores it. You don‘t need to ask...if you could order – the waiter wouldn‘t listen and simply walks by you. Probably you need to be as arrogant and obnoxious as the staff is to get noticed. We left and found an other Café, whose staff was much more friendly. And in German: Die Tische in der Mönckebergstraße meiden. Schlechteste Bedienung in Hamburg, total überforderte Kellner.
