"The City of Hildesheim is located in the northern part of Germany, far away from Bavaria and the bavarian traditions. If I have guests from a foreign country, not having the opportunity to go to Bavaria, or want to refresh there memories of Bavaria, I...enter the Bavaria Alm Bavaria Alm Hildesheim is one location out of five places of the same style, all located in northern Germany, so don't expect a cosy, home-stylish hand-made Restaurant. But the interieur is made in a way, that at least foreigners like it. A lot of real wood ist used for the furniture and the decoration. The open fire place in the middle looks romantic and gives a nice view and heat on cold days, but is driven by gas instead of burning real wood. During the summer you may also want to sit outside, but the location of the Restaurant, near one of the main roads out of the City, is not very quiet and lonesome. The menu card contains only few items. But the selection is more or less typical for the Bavarian kitchen. The good news ist that usually this limitation shortens discussions what to order. They offer soups and some other starters, having several meat and a fish main dish, and some sweets to close. Additional some none of the above meals, like Brotzeit (Some cold bread, botter, cheese, sausage, etc are offered as well. In winter sometimes also typical northern Germany food is offered. The beverage contains Bavarian Beer (in Bottles, but also from tap), some Wine and several softdrinks. Even if the house is full, the service is quite fast and kind, as a result from the short menu card. Prices are average and are in a good relation the offer. So, as an result, if you are new to Germany, not going to Bavaria (or want to have a first impression what to expect), looking for an average (up to good) Restaurant in price and quality, I suggest to give Bavaria Alm a trial. Giving an average is a bit poor, but IMHO a very good is out of range."
