Yesterday evening, we had a delightful meal by the Bay of Bengal. The staff was incredibly polite and friendly. We highly recommend this lovely restaurant.

We had take away. Main courses were delicious. Starters of onion bhaji and sag paneer over priced and not great quality. Vegetarian options: Veg pathia was lovely. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £30–40 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 View menu

"Meals were great quality and plate filling. My gammon was amazing as were the pies and the scampi which the others had. The menu had a great range of meals and at very reasonable prices. The place was really busy. We were lucky to get a table and we were informed on ordering about the delay, which wasn't a problem, but was appreciated. The Dovey has a great range of drinks especially gins but also beers the Reverend James was my favourite. The manager certainly knows how to look after his cask ales. The manager Dave, I think, was rushed off his feet but always cheery and had time to speak to everyone and check on diners. Indeed, all of the staff were courteous and helpful. There was a good mix of visitors and locals in there. They obviously get a lot of local custom which is always a good recommendation! My only gripe was that they could have done with a few more staff, particularly on the bar, as we did have to wait a while to get served on occasions or maybe we were just drinking too fast! It was the height of the summer season so probably at their busiest. Incidentally, our visit was in August, not in September as assumed by the owners of another pub in the same village at which we had a less enjoyable evening the night before and wrote a less glamorous review for. In hindsight, I should have written these nearer to the time but just didn't get round to it. It wouldn't have changed either experience though. Definitely the Dovey again next time."
