"Overpriced food. Lack lustre. Very disappointing. £17 for a 'slice ' of vegetarian lasagne and some skinny fries. That 's it no salad, veg, peas?? Dry, pale cheese topping. Only just very warm, not hot. Where was the slightly caramelised top layer of gooey cheese and pasta edges? Solid chunks of hard courgettes. The skinny fries were the best bit. Soooo overpriced. Like a microwave meal only sliced. Hunters Chicken, same price. Did at least have a salad effort with it. Measliest bit of chicken, with limp bacon. Prime location. Get a chef in if charging these prices for café food! Sorry but you are taking the proverbial. Won 't return. Shame. And £7.50 for bog standard desert option? Didn 't go there."

A great dog friendly pub serving a great variety of food and beverages. I can recommend the lamb shank and steak. Friendly landlord.

Friendly and warm welcome. Really dog friendly. Good value for money. Lasagne was delicious. Really handy to the caravan park next door.

The food is freshly prepared and served in generous portions. The pub offers a wide variety of ales and ciders on tap. The staff are also very friendly. I would love for this place to be my regular local pub! View menu

The host at this restaurant was inhospitable and unwelcoming. We walked in to ask about dinner and were informed that they were fully booked, suggesting we make a reservation for the next night. When we asked for a drink, we were not allowed into the bar. It was a very unusual and unwelcoming experience.

Good Sunday roast at a decent price, friendly and swift service from the landlord who was working behind the bar as well as serving tables on his own. Also dog friendly inside the pub which is always a bonus. We were staying at the campsite next door for a week during the summer holidays and returned a few times throughout.

Arrived at the Campsite after a long journey, so we opted to eat at the Beggars , The gentleman behind the the bar was very accommodating and friendly and arranged us a table to eat . The cask ale was kept well , a good pint. The however we thought was over priced for what it was £17 . Basic Pub food small portions. But they have the monopoly as there is no where else within walking distance. View menu

We were camping nearby and decided to stop in for drinks. They had a great selection of cider and cask ales. The pub also had options for the kids like J2O and Pepsi. I tried the Peachy Blinder cocktail and loved it. We only ate there once, but the food was excellent. I especially enjoyed my steak and the prices were reasonable. Overall, it was a nice local pub that we enjoyed visiting. Thank you for taking care of us.

This was a 'spur of the moment ' visit, my husband having been isolated in the house since beginning of December recovering from two broken hips. Our arrival was just before opening time, but Kevin came out to greet us. We just wanted beer and crisps but his reply was That 's fine. He was so considerate throughout our visit that we shall recommend Beggars Roost to lots of friends. Not only did he help my husband in and a seat by the fire, but when we spotted Chicken and Mushroom pie , in spite of it being Sunday Roast day, chef produced it, and it was very much enjoyed. A delightful experience!
