"Only attended by one waitress. Service lacked finesse and attention to details (amuses Bouche served right after we ordered our firs drinks, red wine served in white wine glass). Had duck breast and my wife steak with chips. Although waitress warned than it would be pink, the Duck was almost raw. Beef was well cooked and tasty but served folded into to like like a slab paver de boeuf. Starters was pan-fried foie gras. Taste was ok but portions were minuscule. All in all ok but I can't relate to the good reviewers that were previously reported. An ok restaurant with an average experi nice"

What a disappointment! A really basic menu with an agreement puts the wine really not up.

Much better than we could have imagined. The choice was wide and we all enjoyed both the taste and the appearance of the food.

The names of the dishes invited optimism. Disappointment. Not where little seasoning and really fade. Besides, for a restaurant with that name, we didn't really feel welcome

Near the French border to Belgium you can expect the typical Ch'ti cuisine that is quite heavy but in all it's aspects really delicious. A good variety of French vines makes it easy to cope with the portions!

Thanks to the whole team. We spent an excellent stay in the duplex. The decoration is splendid and well above our expectations. We wish them a very good continuation. Stay here. Very friendly. Nicolas and Sébastien. Sejour du 23/12 au 30/12 .

On the occasion of a dinner, we were very welcome by the staff of the establishment. The decoration of the restaurant is really nice and very good taste. The meal was very good, a pity that there is no menu that included the inserts/plats/deserts of the map. We have had a very good time and will return to this establishment with great pleasure.

"Some of the best cooking I have ever had has not been at fancy restaurants, but places where people put a lot of effort into getting things right, and they get it right. They don't try to do things that they can't do; they cook the food that has been cooked for generations and they do it well, every day.Le Bruegel is on such place. It has been on my radar for several years, being a few miles from the Belgian border: a small detour from our route back home. Usually, we have been too late or too early, but circumstances favour those who plan in advance, and so we sat down in the restaurant on a cold Monday lunchtime in February. My chicory gratin was delicious, Not everyone likes this wonderful leafy vegetable, with a taste somewhere between white asparagus and celery, bitter and sweet, unctious and slightly caramelised. Such people are deluded. This was bathed in a maroilles sauce with lardons to deter vegetarians from stealing my lunch. My wife's Coquilles St Jacques, also au gratin, were tender and sweet. She followed this with chicken cooked in local beer. I did sneak a bit and it was also very good indeed. My pavé surmounted with local Bergues cheese was perfectly cooked, and came with obviously hand cooked chips. We did not have room for dessert, except for the vicarous pleasure of watching others eat it.Our friendly waitress insisted on practising her English, which was better than she claimed it to be! Excellent."

"we are enchanted that we have selected the aubette based on TripAdvisor reviews. a very short walk from the beffroi, the aubette is in a public park even a Zen delight well a walk before or after lunch. we had great joy to eat outside quietly at lunchtime. surrounded by towering trees, wide grasses, bushes in all shades of green. a perfect place for every age. we ordered: garnelen croquettes: 3 croquettes, mixed salat, french french fries. best. cabillaud cooked in banana leaves with mild green curry and carrot slices. this dish comes with rice, but when I said I don't need the rice waiter offered to it through a ratatouille, the red paprika, tomato and mushrooms. this ratatouille was tender and light, freshly tasting, really wonderful. the cabillaud was also perfectly cooked. the cook has the fine, rare, art of cooking sweet and, here, fish, at its perfect temperature, so that the food is cooked, but fresh and taste fineness is preserved and improved. a fine, gustative experience, a court I swore slowly. the homemade mayonnaise was today also so rare a small but telling sign of aubettes hingabe on quality. for lovers of ice cream is the aubette one must experience the creamy, natural tasting aromas, the delicious coulis must be experienced. our waitress was very pleasant, attentive, professional. the waiting time was perfect. for our meal: 2 main dishes, 2 ice deserts, 1 beer, 1 wein, i mineral water we paid 50euros an excellent value. highly recommended. I'm just sorry I didn't make a picture of them."
