"Wolkenkratzer is a small café right in the middle of the Marktplatz (market place) in Kehl, a strategic location for business. Kehl is frequented by local French tourists from near-by Strasbourg, and then there also are enough local Germans to fill the tables. On market...days (Tuesdays Fridays) the place gets filled up easily. On Fridays Saturdays they serve something special that you cannot get on other days, namely weisswurst mit Senf (white Bavarian sausage with sweet mustard and a pretzel. I went there on a Friday and got this treat! It cost less than euros, and it was worth every bite! The restaurant also had a pretty comprehensive breakfast/lunch menu that included regular, breakfast items, breakfast sandwiches and daily lunch specials. In addition to hot drinks they had alcoholic drinks. There also was an ice cream menu. Since it was summer almost everybody was seated outside. I was told by the tourist office that they had free Wi-Fi, but I did not see anybody with a computer there. I had passed by this café several times before asking myself what message they tried to convey by its name. Wolkenkratzer means skyscraper in German, but this café, when stripped off its outdoor seating (for example in winter) would look more like a wooden shed. Since their specialty seemd to be good breakfast with good coffee, I wondered if the picture of a steaming cup of coffee on their name plaque meant to say that steam was rising toward clouds. While contemplating this I thoroughly enjoyed my brunch there"

bad service and unhappy rude stuff.Toilets are dirty. The location is nice placed in the centre of the small town Kehl but they are better places just next door View menu

always well visited, in the middle of the marketplace, so great to look. services try to be fast. quality the food ok for the price. tee selection could be better. some service, too, regarding ease of use. still a bistro with a certain charm

There may be other Wolkenkratzer cafés in other parts of Germany, but there is only one at the marketplace in Kehl. There already is a description of the Kehl's Bistro Wolkenkratzer on Tripadvisor. A Wolkenkratzer café is also found in Lahr not too far from...Kehl, but there is definitely only one at the market place

we are two friends (black) and French. We were taken very badly, first by a waitress at the bar that was aggressiv when she asked after a menu card, the menus are not translated into the French (not mind), but also not in English. Then he runs after 3 call a waiter past us and ignores us several times completely. He probably asks another colleague, just as long as he is available to take care of us. this young man may be allergic to our skin color. very unpleasant feeling here! it is satisfactory with regard to eating. in summary personally unpleasant and probably racist. We were looking for somewhere for a light lunch so when we saw there was a fairly good menu with good prices, we chose here. The pizza was good enough, my daughters was very slow coming out, we were half way through our meal before...it was served. The salad was dismal. Massive plate but about leaves of lettuce, slices of tomato, slices of cucumber and olives! We ordered glasses of water rather than soda drinks which always drive the price of a meal up a lot. But when we paid for it, they had charged us for each glass. It certainly was not bottled water so we may as well have had a beer or drink! The water was half the price of the food! Total ripoff! Never again

it's been a past since I wrote my first review about this caffe. I was there for breakfast this morning. the place looked the same, but the caffe was not full because it was a celebration. I sat inside because it wasn't warm outside. it felt a little tight there. I ordered a cappuccino and a salmon sandwich. the young woman who served first brought only the salmon, the fresh cheese and the wobble. I thought she'd bring a hot bunny from the other side of the caffe, but there was no bunny. I had to ask her if I could get some bread for this sandwich. Overall it took almost 10-15 minutes after I finished my cappuccino to eat this sandwich. I found it quite strange that she would think I was eat...

"one of the main reasons why we decided to make a detour by strasburg during our visit to paris was this restaurant. The photos of the critics made us dirty. Unfortunately, this place was not up to the media thrashing. some of the problems arise from our ignorance of obtaining reservations and ordering the wrong article. However, these are minor grievances that we could forget if food was memorable. It wasn't. I'm sure there is a way to get good food here, but our overall experience has been really poor and in comparison, we had such good vegan food in places on which we fell during our stay in the area. the staff was very kind, but they were overworked and could not be attentive. It was very difficult to have water or service because there were not enough personnel. We would also have wished that the staff cautioned against ordering certain foods, because the items made repeated appearances between our aperitives and our dinners. I ordered a gourmet salad, I think in part because it is advertised as a vegan cheese. cheese was good, but overall, the salad was not very tasty and was incredibly overdressed. what made it especially unmangeable was a vinaigrette too sweet. pecan nuts were a good idea. Unfortunately, the salad appeared on our two plates! the absence of an English menu meant that we had ordered by mistake the soup as an aperitif. It was okay, but not what we expected. I ordered a chocolate mousse for dinner, it was good, but not incredible. There were a lot of cakes my husband was happy to try and had less eaten to save room for dessert. Here's where we met another problem. almost all the cakes and desserts contained alcohol. My husband doesn't drink. There were no small breads that we saw endless images online. Not that it was the fault of the restaurant, but it didn't help us get hungry, we didn't think we needed to get a reservation and airplanes worked 40 minutes to get there. If the food had been in first order, I would have mocked it. The restaurant is not close to the city centre, but closer to the university. We had to wait for more than an hour to be seated. If the weather was hot, it wasn't serious, but it was in the 1930s. So if you really want to go, book it! If you need a shelter waiting for this restaurant, we dragged into the lobby of a nearby bank. totally lame, but totally hot. While we were waiting to sit down, we have travelled all the refrigerated foods and the dishes to take away. We were delighted to have a lot of food to take away because we were going to be on tour the next day and we were back to betting the next day. After our disappointing meal, we chose to have only 2 pre-packed sandwiches to take away. they had nothing special - and could have used vinaigrette or mayonnaise because they were quite dry. But they were practical!"
