"Wished we can like it more. Found Le Bistrot de Venise via Michelin Guide. If you like a older school style restaurant, and to be seated in these different small dining rooms, the clientele the night we were there was very mixed tourists: a loud table of 8 of Brit family, a couple that drank coke for dinner, and 3 Asian friends. To the restaurant's defense, service was attentive and Venice is a touristy town but i still can't get pass the ambience being like that. Overall comment is that the dishes seemed dated. The amuse boche was a piece of smoked fish that seemed to be missing something. My main was the steamed eel $35) which was the highlight of the meal, amazing dish, fresh, cooked really well, the skin had a great texture and very flavorful. The other dish duck) was a bit tough, a bit over cooked to my taste, a bit dated. Beef tongue was another average dish, served warm. Somm was extremely helpful and helped us picked 4 wines to pair with each dishes, reasonably priced by the glass program was a nice perk to try different local grapes. Overall, service was good, they are here aim to please, but a very old school and touristy restaurant off the main area. Just not to my personal taste. I much preferred Ai Mercanti night and day if you ask me)"

No wonder. There are many options in Venice more interesting and not so expensive

Amazing Taster menu; the ravioli and cuttlefish pasta were amongst the most delicious entrees we have ever eaten. The waitstaff were impeccable.

This place was the highlight of our trip to Venice. Truly outstanding from beginning to end. The food had an artistic look with some authentic flavors, truly don't know how they did it! The lasagna was a win, the sweet and sour prawns were a new favorite of mine. Service wise no complaints, the sommelier took great care of us.

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a night at Bistrot de Venise and what a treat it was. The staff were fantastic and so attentive. The food and drink knowledge that they shared with us for every part of the meal was not only informative but very entertaining. WOW The food is on a level we have personally never experienced before and might not for some time. If you are going to Venice and looking for a quality treat and experience I highly recommend you pre book. Thank you.

It 's a lovely restaurant and looks like an elevated dining experience but ...the kitchen actually has a bell to indicate when an order is ready ding-ding like in a US diner). That defnitely took away from the elegance. The lighting was too bright so much so I asked the captain to dim: The captain happily did this. This adjustment was not just well received by me, but three other tables commented that it made the room feel so much better and thanked me for requesting the change. In sum, very attentive service, lovely visual surround, but other ambient elements need fine-tuning.
