"I visited the pub on recommendation for dinner. The food surpassed all expectations. Try the homemade pies. Brilliant wine ale choices too. Tracey was working and made every effort to make sure I felt welcomed and well looked after. The landlady Jill came to welcome me personally and shared some interesting facts about the pub dating back to the 16th century. I was dining alone but quickly felt warmly welcomed. This is a fascinating, charming little pub steeped in history which is visible from the lopsided Tudor architecture and little niches and around the place. Ask the staff to tell you about the attempted assassination of Oliver Cromwell that took place there and the priest's escape tunnel connected to the local church! A must-see pub, highly recommended!"

Lovely old historic pub with amazing open fires. Great food (ham egg and chips was excellent). Very friendly people.

We enjoyed a lovely family meal at the Black Swan. They were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. I would definitely recommend.

Lovely, cosy pub. Great food. We were visiting the area and spent both evenings here. Particular thanks to Debs for making us so welcome including our dog Ziva.

Much needed family meal after lockdown, we couldn’t have been more welcomed by the staff despite not being local. We had a fantastic meal and would definitely return when in the area.

I had a wonderful experience at this charming traditional English pub, with its beautiful old beams. The service was top-notch and the food was exceptional, all at affordable prices. My scampi and chips were cooked perfectly, as was my vegan friend's nut roast.

This is a beautiful old country pub, steeped in history, with comfortable settees in the bar, the kind your granny would have. We were given a warm and friendly welcome. We only called in for a drink but liked the place so much that we stayed for dinner, we both had lasagne bake which was delicious. we came across it by chance and it was good luck for us.

A whole load of us met here for a pre-wedding get together last Friday. A lovely old pub, with very friendly patrons and staff. It was a bit like herding cats but the landlady and her staff were absolutely fabulous and fed us all, mostly at late notice and gave us a room all of our own too to accommodate the masses. Good food and friendly, accommodating staff. Thank you!

Whilst on holiday in the area (family of 15 plus 2 dogs) we visited the Black Swan twice, once for a drink and once for a meal. Both times we had a very warm welcome and lovely service (including water and treats for the dogs). The food was delicious and served hot (not easy for large groups). The lemon cheesecake I had for dessert was light and zingy. Highly recommended.

Very friendly locals. Real rustic food, meant in the most complimentary manner possible. I had steak and ale pie. PIE! Not stew with a hat on. Proper homemade pie..... With carrots and peas.... And Herby fries..... Then, drum roll..... real proper homemade bread and butter pudding. Heaven. The staff are friendly, very courteous and efficient, the building is a place I could spend hours in (it's old! And the beer was superbly kept....... I'll be back...
