"We have been here on numerous occasions and have previously reviewed The Blue Pig. I have now updated my 5star rating as the experience on this occasion fell far short of an acceptable level for that rating. When we walked in there was no greeting from any of the staff although they didn 't look busy, we sat down at a slightly sticky table and commented on the fusty smell. Nobody came to the table although it is supposed to be 'table service ' we had to ask for menus which were eventually dumped on the table, we were NOT asked if we wanted drinks and was gone quicker than she came. A few minutes later she came to take our orders but as we were not quite ready she looked up at the ceiling and walked off. When our food orders were taken (without writing it down) which was a steak 'well done ' with a pepper corn sauce and a chicken tikka, to which I was asked 'if that was the curry? '. We were NOT asked if we had any Food Allergies. When the meals arrived the steak was somewhat charred around the edges and a miniscule piece of grilled tomato, the chips were good but the one onion rings was undercooked and the pepper corn sauce was just like beef gravy and very salty. The Tikka was pieces of chicken in a watery orange liquid, the popperdoms were so salty as to be inedible and the rice was sticky. David the owner did come to the table to ask if everything was ok but wasn 't interested in putting anything right or apologizing but did say ' I 'll let the chef know '. This was a special occasion which is why we had returned to the The Blue Pig with high hopes for the food and service we had come to know over the years before Covid lockdown. We would have had drinks and dessert and probably coffee like we used to but we just wanted to make a fast exit so paid David at the bar as we had not yet had the bill, he still made no attempt acknowledge any issues. I expect to become a 'key board warrior ' now I have expressed my findings in writing for others to read. Although David was given the opportunity at the table to improve the situation he appears out of his depth when dealing with constructive criticism. This is my personal findings and disappointment. We will never come back whilst under this ownership."

Have been several times to the Blue Pig in Wolvey and the food is outstanding. We have never been disappointed. Yesterday was the first time for Sunday lunch and again it was excellent. We'll definitely be returning again and again.

It was amazing Sophie was great and David was better The food was amazing along with the service The vegan burger was amazing as you could taste all the flavours The waiting staff which was Sophie was attentive and filled all our needs

Came as a family between Christmas and New year. We found the Blue Pig a lovely setting to eat. The lady that served us was welcoming and attentive. We had different meals to each other and none of us could fault any of them. In all we had a great experience

Traditional village pub, not too huge so a nice buzz around the bar of locals of all ages. Friendly barman, decent beer. Remembered what I was drinking when I asked for another pint, which was good as I didn’t. Decided to stay for dinner, pub grub freshly cooked with generous portion sizes. Mixed grill beat me, glad I didn’t order a starter first! Waitress was polite and courteous. Will come again.

Booked a table for Sunday afternoon. We were a large group of 20, which we know can be difficult for any restaurant. However we was pleasantly surprised at how well everything was ran. They managed to put us on a large table so we was sat together. Menus given and drinks orders taken quickly. Food brought out quickly and was really good, absolutely no complaints from any of our party. Thank you really enjoyed our afternoon

Been a few times to the blue pig, always decent enough when friends are visiting, but the overriding impression of this visit was the extremely poor staffing, quite frankly embarrassing. The young waitress serving could not care less, no smiles, no hows your food, no asking if we want drinks, collected mains and we asked to see desserts... Literally last we saw of her till we paid to leave. If that's the level of staffing you may as well close the place up.

The food is lovely, the setting is lovely and the dog menu is a lovely touch. I enjoyed the chicken tikka and my wife said her Hunters Chicken was very very tasty. I also think our dog liked her sausage and mash with the speed she ate it. However I have one piece of criticism and advice. The young lady that served us wasn't very accommodating. Never once did she smile and came across quite rude in her mannerisms at times. For example when our food came she just put it in front of us and walked off. Never asked if we would like sauces or any more drinks or gave us time to ask. Never once said please or thank you. I just think a bit more training in customer service for some staff would go a l...
