"I'm not sure since when being rude has become acceptable in the hospitality business but I think this place is setting new standards in this field. There were 3 of us, sat down, were looking at menus when a waitress approached us asking us for our order. I told her what I want (we all wanted ice cream), person numbered 2 told her what they wanted, then person number three told her they wanted a scoop of so and a scoop of... (pose for 3 seconds to decide). The waitress just rolled her eyes and left us to her counter, smashing her hands on it to show her anger. She then ignored us for the next 10 minutes before coming back to take our order. One of us has a mobility problem and uses a crutch, while descending the stairs (using the crutch with difficulty), they was asked to move to the side by another waitress who wanted to go down the last step faster than them! The same waitress then asked them to move out of her way again when they were on their way back to our table!Don't bother, nothing can make up for the horrible service."

Das Essen war sehr gut und als Dessert mövenpick Glace mit frischen Früchten. Zum empfehlen. Mitte in der Stadt am Marktplatz.

For lunch I ordered cold pea soup and grilled fish with rice, spinach and cream sauce. Everything was salty. Except that I recommend it.

On a day when the temperature reached 35 degrees we were looking for somewhere to eat outside and somewhere with plain food. This place fit the bill and we had an enjoyable meal. 28-31 Swiss Francs is expensive for a burger and fries, but everything is expensive in Switzerland

We had dinner here last week. This used to be a restaurant with a good wine selection and honest cuisine. Our salads had too much dressing, the plates just seemed to be served without much attention and everything was rather plain. Something has changed and...not necessarily for the best.

We just wanted a quick lunch and grabbed a table outside. After 15 minutes or so the only waiter (at lunchtime in a busy market square) ambled over. The service was slow, the food was nowhere near worth the money (I had the Italian chicken burger, which for 30 Francs I would have expected to be actual chicken, not frozen). Don't waste your money on lunch or dinner. Stick to the ice cream :-)

Per cenare sulla magnifica piazza del municipio nulla ci é parso piú indicato che il buon vecchio classico Mövenpick: a colpo sicuro all' insegna della swissness.Purtroppo siamo caduti veramente in basso.

"Cheval Blanc is the ultimate classic French fine dining experience in Switzerland. We came here to celebrate my birthday while in Switzerland looking for a 3 Michelin stars experience. Located in the historical Grand Hotel Les Trois Rios. The riverside setting is charming and romantic. You start by a welcome drink at the terrace looking at the Rhine greeted by suited , polite and professional staff. The head chef Peter Knogl came to say hi before we moved to the main dining room and service started. The decor and interior is classy retro French with high ceilings, arches, classic chandeliers, large windows and round tables with candles. Ambience is warm and intimate. Service was top notch and impeccable. Staff were all knowledgeable with refreshing attention to details. Cuisine was modern french with Mediterranean influences, flavors were complex and dynamic. Ingredients were chosen carefully and courses were presented beautifully. I liked all of my courses, highlights of the menu were the Sardine Macaron, Langoustine curry, Red Mullet filet and the French saddle of lamb with mediterranean flavors. Wine pairing was excellent and enhanced every course taste and flavor. Sommelier was very professional and knowledgeable yet intimidating a bit. The French Cheese selections from Maître Antony in Ferrette was aromatic, rich and satisfying, Maître Antony is one of the best in the world that many Michelin starred Chefs get their fine cheeses selection from. The night ended well with a couple of delightful desserts courses, few delectable bites and some velvety chocolate. Overall, we had an elevated fine dining experience that will bring me back if in Basel again."
