"Had lunch in The French Horn a few weeks ago after a windy dog walk at Sharpenhoe Clappers the owners also now have The Crooked Billet which is my local, so we thought we'd check it out. I had the sausage and onion sandwich with quite possibly the best skin on fries I've eaten in a long time! The staff were really friendly and the bar had a nice atmosphere. It's quite a big pub with large dining areas and I imagine gets very busy in the summer. All in all, well worth a visit if you're in the area."

"we discovered the chequers shortly after taking over the current owners and it has since been our way to place. the one thing that really emphasizes is the resistance, whether it is a quiet Monday dinner or a busy Friday dinner, it is always excellent. eating is the first class with a seasonal menu with local ingredients, service is always excellent and the staff seems really happy to be there. it's really hard to get a favourite dish, as there's a big choice and we never had a court that doesn't impress. it is always immaculately clean and the courtyard is beautiful on a sunny day with comfortable chairs and a well maintained flower display. when their planning on going it is worth booking as its call grows, but they are always ready to find them a table when they specify."

"Had a rare day eating here with my husband and father in law for both lunch and evening meal. I had the cheese and bacon burger for lunch and a rustichella pizza for my dinner. Both were delicious and served hot. The staff are friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is chilled and friendly. Definitely recommend as the best place to eat/drink in Toddington and surrounding area. Food: 5"

"4 ladies out for lunch, we each ordered a jacket potato, two of us beans and cheese, one tuna and one bacon and cheese. All the potatoes were undercooked, inedible, so sent back, they were returned, after, (believe it or not) being cooked in the microwave on the same plates. Hot dried out tuna and hot mayo, dried up beans and bacon as hard as bullets, the grated cheese had turned into a large solid slice on the bottom of the plates, UNBELIEVABLE! All returned and rolls ordered, a choice of bread would have been appreciated but there was only granary apparently. Huge teapots, that's a bonus we thought, but with only 1 teabag resulted in dishwater. Very, very disappointed, it has always been one of our favourite places to eat. It is definitely a no-go place now. I will just add that I have never, ever sent anything back in any of the places I have eaten in my life, I appreciate that not every meal is going to 5 star but this experience was something else sadly. "Recently have payed more than one visit once in the daytime for lunch and then more recently for an evening meal with different group of friends. There is a great choice of food options to suit everyone(Had a vegan in our group) . We...all had different choices and the food was well presented of good quality,cooked perfectly and very tasty. Service was friendly and unobtrusive with nice gaps between and no pressure to hurry. The atmosphere was relaxing and the interior is very tastefully decorated and comfortable to sit in . Both groups of friends have requested to return as they loved it so much. We look forward to returning in if not before."
