"We sat outside and were offered an excellent choice if sandwiches. The choice of bread available was impressive to start off never mind the selection of fillings! Rolls, grabary' White's cheese topped, sliced white etc. I had an excellent vacancy and cheese sandwich on granary. My lad had a beautiful bowl of fresh chips and my mum had a bacon sandwich. Even the dog was offered fresh water and a dog sausage. The tea was in lovely huge mugs and served very promptly by polite and courteous young people. All in all a great location and a great little place. Highly recommended."

Mum and I often go to this little cafe. Great food at good prices with a daily specials board. The Thai fish cakes are delicious!

Always a friendly welcome. We tend to have a full English with fried bread and without exception always piping hot and tasty. Would definitely recommend.

Usually pop in for a takeaway breakfast roll on a day off work. Food cooked fresh while you wait and always good quality with good staff working behind the counter View menu

Had breakfast with my best mates. To say I was impressed with this place would be an understatement. The welcome, the service and the food is outstanding and of course, the fried bread is the best.....ever!

On street parking if you can find a space. Lovely friendly welcome from the staff. Very ‘homely’ atmosphere. Breakfast was good quality. Decent sausages. The beans tomato’s could have been a bit hotter, but other than that a decent breakfast plus mug of tea for £5.90. Would visit again. View menu

As well as doing breakfasts and lunches, Cafe 118 occasionally does themed nights and we went to a French one of these recently. For £25 we got a delicious three course meal: smooth, rich pate for starter, a fantastic chicken fricassee for main and a lovely pile of profiteroles for dessert. Service was excellent and each of the courses were spot on the chicken in the fricassee was especially soft and tender. I'd definitely go to another of their themed nights and can recommend them to everyone.

"I went there for Christmas dinner with my partner and we had a horrible experience will never go again. My partner had steak which was lovely but the chips, onions, sauce and other accompaniments were cold. I had traditional turkey the only edible thing was the carrots and turkey! The roast potatoes were hard as rock and seemed either overcooked or cooked from frozen. The parsnips I couldn’t cut, cauliflower was hard and the pigs in blanket was so hard it couldn’t be cut. There wasn't even a yorkshire pudding. We complained just about mine and they brought me a new one but that was worse. In the end I only ate a few carrots and some turkey. I complained again when he came to ask how it was again. He said he would ask manager to come over, he took 15/20 mins in meantime my psrtmer had eaten his steak and I was just sat there. The manager offered to let us have our 1 drink each free plus one more round. I was grateful they had offered but it had still spoiled my Christmas and I was emotional as I work every year as a nurse on Christmas Day and cook when I get in (for 40 years) this was the only time I had been out for christmas dinner. It took 50 mins to clear our plates. I just wanted to go home but we had dessert to eat so I had that it was nice but was described as Eton Mess but it was just a big meringue with a dollop of cream on and about 2 strawberries chopped up no sauce at all. The server was nice but we couldn’t get anyone’s attention to get a drink even though we were the last sitting and the kitchen was closed, it wasn’t that busy. I am disappointed and even though they tried to help me it wasn't enough, when we paid £90 each. They warm everything up in the microwave I think apart from meat and fish that’s what it tasted like anyway."
