"We stumbled across Cafe am Petriplatz on our way back from the DDR museum. Once inside, we were amazed by the extensive menu, and loved the (we presume) mother and daughter who ran the place - friendly, warm and very concerned that our every need was met. I tried the Currywurst, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and my wife had pork with "sour cabbage" (sauerkraut), which we both thought was exceptional. We succumbed to Apple Strudel with both whipped cream and ice cream for dessert, which was delicious and decadent. While the environs are not exceptional (my wife loved the dolls decorating the walls), this is a great example of a little spot that deserves patronage."

I had a chicken schnitzel and fried eggs. An average lunch meal for the money. Basically it filled an empty stomach well.

Farmhouse breakfast is divine. Lovely atmosphere and people. Easily overlooked cafe tucked away in Kleine Gertraudenstr3. Must try!

Very friendly service and we tasted the excellent potatoe soup with a glass of wine. We found the decoration not very beautiful, but the food and service were very good.

Lovely sitting in the sun with nice coffee and comfort food. Omelet with potatoes and salad, nicely cooked and well seasoned. Good coffee by European stands and friendly homely service. We would defiantly go back View menu

This restaurant is just around the corner from the apartment we were renting. It is the ideal place for breakfast or a meal during the day. There is a range of dishes on the menu at reasonable prices. Alcohol is available. 2 courses with a beer each came to 18 euros each. Good value.

Because of a contruction site had to take a little detour and thank goodness we did!!! A darling, little gem of a place appeared before us! Wonderful food(fantastic Tafelspitz), friendliest service, we totally enjoyed it!! Beautiful little place and we seemed to be the only tourists!

Happened upon this small cafe when wandering.Friendly husband and wife team, the former at the counter. Both of us had wonderful quite original soups. Spinach with feta and mince. Split yellow pea with wurst. Cafe has a pretty eclectic menu of what they describe as German home cooking. The result could not be faulted in our dishes or on those of others near us.Would thoroughly recommend. View menu

This is a small restaurant tucked in a corner within a respectable walking distance from the Dome, near the canal. We found it by accident, and were extremely happy that we did. The food was excellent, made by the grandmother herself. The service was warm and very friendly, and every recommendation made was spot on. The desserts, especially the traditional Kaiser schmarrn, were absolutely delicious. This was the perfect antidote to the touristy places around museum insel, and we highly recommend it.

Traditional German restaurant, with tradtitional style decor. Floral wallpaper, pink and cream painted mouldings, deep rose pink Austrian blinds, and a large number of spooky looking victorian dolls staring down from high ledges. I liked it, in a wierd sort of way. My son found it unnerving. However, the waiter was very friendly and polite, and the food was simple and delicious. Mainly pork, in one form or another, pickled cabbage (saurkraut) and potatoes, in one form or another. I found it all very comforting and pleasant.
