"This is my favourite place to eat. A quaint bistro which supports local artists by displaying their art work which adds to the character and the atmosphere. Donia is a beautiful soul who makes you feel most welcome. I believe she may be a magician as the food that she produces is amazing. The produce is fresh and local and woah does Donia know how to put it altogether. My tastebuds most definitely do a wee dance when we eat here. We have been here several times and are never disappointed. Absolutely love the tapas. I'd definitely recommend here if you want to tantalise your taste buds each bite is an explosion of flavour."

Super food and great value. Delicious starters and main courses. Reasonable wine too. It’s a small restaurant so do book or you might be disappointed.

I sent an email to make a reservation for dinner at a Bistro that was supposed to be open according to their website and the hours posted on their window. We have not received a response yet.

What an Isle of Bute treasure! No doubt in our minds that this is the best dining on the isle. Donia is a delight. Beautiful smile, lovely personality, combined with extraordinarily tasty dishes with an exotic flair. Simply Fabulous! View menu

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant - it was a great find! The owner and staff greeted us warmly. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it, making it great value for money. The Bistro is spotless and I would recommend booking in advance as it is quite small. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Bute.

After years of taking numerous holidays in Scotland, my husband and I finally visited Bute. We had dinner at the Caledonia Bistro Deli and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The mussels and green Thai curry were excellent, as well as the wine. The service was also fantastic. We highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back! Just a heads up: the restaurant is quite small, so make sure to make reservations in advance.

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"

"We booked this restaurant after reading the reviews while touring Scotland what a disappointment. When we arrived we were shown to a table straight behind the door and as it kept opening and shutting it blew a massive amount of cold air in. As both parents and staff allowed 2 young children to go in and out every few minutes it got a bit much. We were given the menu and told specials were on the board. No description or recommendation. Also they did not say the board also goes over the top of the fish on didplay. I had crab claws to start the mayonnaise was lovely and what I could get out of the claws was nice but I was given no instruments to get into the claws and they were not broken enough for them to just pull out. I ordered the turbut for main as did my husband it was a small fillet with the skin correctly removed but it was loaded with garlic butter sauce you couldn't taste the fish for the garlic. Also which was worse I don't know what they did to the top of it but it was yellow and like thin rubber. We had to peel it off it was not good. I didn't complain at the time because I am not used to having a fillet of turbut. When I have had it before my husband and I have shared a turbut presented whole at the table. I have only written this today after speaking to some friends who said i should put something on because there had to be something wrong for the top of the fish to be yellow and leathery. You might guess but I won't be going back."
