"I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant. I had booked days in advance, only to be greeted with a curt comment upon arrival that the food would take a while. Despite this, we decided to stay and were then informed that more than half of the menu items were unavailable. We ordered some of the available dishes, but waited 40 minutes for the food to arrive. The restaurant claims to be a wine shop, but the selection for those looking for just a glass was poor and not well-maintained. The cuisine was a confusing mix of Italian, Spanish, Greek, and Thai flavors that did not live up to expectations. Overall, this was our worst dining experience in Scotland. I would not recommend making the trip to this restaurant, especially if you are only visiting Bute for a day."

Very disappointed. Coffee was instant although we asked for real coffee. Salad wasn't worth the money. Hopefully it was just a bad day.

Great little bistro need to book in advance, small number of tables and food cooked to order with great service. Shame we only went on our last day or we would have definitely been back

We had a delightful experience at this cozy bistro located along the seafront. The sharing platters we ordered were delicious and served in generous portions. The service was attentive and welcoming. View menu

Fantastic meal at Caledonia Bistro last night, great choice on the menu, lovely wine, great service and beautiful view over the bay. Donia was very friendly and helpful. As I bonus I bought a lovely picture as well. Brilliant place!

A very enjoyable evening spent with friends was definitely complimented by the meal. Never having been there before we were impressed with the whole experience. Well worth a second, third and fourth visit. Popularity of the venue overlooking the harbor and the size of this little oasis means you have to book. Looking forward to our next visit.

We were really pleased to find this xcellent little bistro within walking distance of the marina and next door to the famous Port Bannatyne community pub. A small but appealing menu with good provision for all tastes is prepared with care and served by friendly competent staff. A real boost to the village and a welcome spot for passing sailors. Service was incredibly slow, there were only two other tables and it took two hours for a charcuterie board and mussels. Food was average, definitely not worth the price considering my wife had several closed mussels and the bread was rock solid. Food also cooled quickly as it was not served on warm plates. The wine list prices were extortionate. Limited choice in the village but would not recommend.

Hands down the best food on the island! Great selection of vegetarian dishes, internationally inspired cuisine, all freshly prepared. Lovely, cosy atmosphere with little touches such as fresh flowers on the table, etc. We spent a lovely evening enjoying the meal, the wine, and a chat with the great hostess. Very recommended if you're looking for something more than fish and chips. We'll be definitely coming back!

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
