"We found Casa No Name online and liked the website and the menu so we took a chance. I will admit that walking down the side streets of Marseilles with all the walls covered in graffiti can be a bit intimidating, but it wasn't scary so we kept walking. We arrived at 8PM on a Thursday night without a reservation. Luckily we did not need one that early! They graciously seated us and brought us the menus. Our host and server were quick to be sure that we understood the menu. We used what little French we knew and they helped with translating to English as needed. It was really nice to have a French restaurant person allow us to use our French even though it was not great! :) We started with a glass of champagne and starters of Panisses comme à l’Estaque (a local specialty) and a Wrap de Gorgonzola, roquette et poires (arugula and pears wrapped in gorgonzola). Both were delicious. For our main course we had the Charlotte d'aubergines épicée aux trois viandes (spicy eggplant with three meats) and the filet mignon (Filet mignon of pork stuffed with chard and chorizo, polenta). Both were prepared perfectly and were scrumptious. The chef checked on us right after we ordered to be sure we knew what we were getting and again shortly after the food was delivered. That was pretty awesome. We enjoyed a very nice bottle of Domaine de la Gayère, Cuvée de Chris, Cotes du Rhône 2010, nicely priced at 24 Euros. A big thank thank you to all of the staff who were gracious, friendly and very efficient! The entire meal including the wine was 74 euros. We will definitely return on our next trip to Marseilles. I recommend that you try it too!"

I discovered this restaurant thanks to LaForchette, and it was the best experience I had reserving through them.

Have eaten many times at this small simple restaurant in an unown part of town for tourists. The quality of the food is exceptional for the price. The owner is very welcoming and knows a lot about his wines and will help with explaining the dishes. The area is lively on a weekend evening near the "Plaine" but is nice too on a quiet evening. Try it and you won't be dissapointed!

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday as I was wanting to try it out for some time. The resto itself is quite small and cosy with a warm decor. The menu is quite small with 4 entrées and 4 main dishes, but the dishes are quite different. I started with the fried balls of cod with a spicy tomato sauce. They were simply superb! Really delicious! For main I had wok de poulet et legumes, which was basically a bowl of chicken and vegetables that had been cooked in a wok with soy sauce and other spices. There was no noodles, which I thought was bizarre, but I really enjoyed the dish anyway. I thought the resto was great and I'll go back; the only issue is if you go in the height of summer it c... We were staying in a hotel in the Old Port and decided not to eat in one of the surrounding tourist restaurants. The 15 minute walk to this part of town was fairly straight-forward and well worth the effort. We had a thoroughly delicious meal and enjoyed being the only English couple in an otherwise typical French restaurant. The host was happy to explain the menu to us in English and to suggest a good matching local wine for us. The quality and presentation of the food was excellent. If you don't have a reservation then I'd recommend arriving between 7-8pm as after that the locals started arriving and by the time we left it was getting full. Having eaten in other restaurants in Provence I t...

Walked past this restaurant on our way to another we'd looked at, but decided to go here instead when we looked at the menu and saw the inside of the place. In the middle of the arty/student area Casa No Name has a quirky, inviting feel, with a huge menu to tempt people in! The owner was very helpful, translated the menu to English in great detail, he recommended wines and even brought 2 over to us to choose from. Food was delicious, freshly cooked, and the menu was extremely varied so had something to suit all tastes, everything from steak and potatoes to Moroccan lamb tagine. Both myself and my husband had 3 courses (wasn't planning to but couldn't resist the desserts!), we shared a bottle...
