The Castle Porlock is now under new family ownership in the last few months, so any previous reviews should be disregarded.

Relaxed, comfortable weekend spent at The Castle! Great location, good food and lovely staff. Even better was the welcome our dog received! Will be back again!

beautiful pub with very friendly and helpful staff. have not eaten here, although this looks nice....the real ales on the other side I have sampled and I can say that they are first class.

The staff here are fantastic and friendly, the food is excellent, and the building is beautiful. I wish we could stay longer, as I’m sure the rooms and service are just as wonderful. Thank you!

I visited this restaurant with friends and waited for approximately 15 minutes to be served drinks that were quite expensive. The ambiance was lacking, giving off more of a library-like feel rather than a cozy restaurant atmosphere. The staff seemed indifferent to our presence, making the overall experience less enjoyable.

this place is beautiful. my room is spacious and very comfortable. the team is friendly, helpful and thoughtful and offers simple solutions that make a difference. this morning to breakfast, an uncomplicated, perfectly cooked complete English. I have made a comment to the waitress that I would have made a mistake to make the Suduko puzzle in time and tried to find out where I was wrong. without missing a beat, she offered me a red pencil so I could write the new ones in another color. a simple thing that I know, but for me that shows a great care and attention to the guests needs. I enjoy it so much that I have extended my stay.

I have frequented the Castle on many occasions, both socially and for lunch. The Millers family has done a fantastic job refurbishing the once tired and rundown Victorian building. Initially, everything was quite pleasant, but it seems they have now started hiring a lot of young cheap foreign labor who are not properly trained. During our last lunch visit, our well-intentioned and charming waiter was unsure of how to properly set the table. We tried to explain it to him, but the food was not up to the usual standard we have come to expect from their other establishments in the area.
