"As I 'm sure many others do, we stopped off whilst on the South Downs Cycle. It 's perfectly located and service was good. Food 'slightly ' dissapointing I had fish and chips (which given the proximity to the coast could have been better , one friend had a burger (reported to be good and another had a pizza (it looked like a cheesy mess but apparently was great! . Only a couple of beers had hoped for a few more options, but what they had was OK. Certainly worth a drink stop off, either as a reward for the leg north from Bramber, or as a loosener prior to going south!"

Well done Cat and Canary for your beer and cider festival this weekend. Good beers and cidars, BBQ food and music. Good beer selection. This is a local pub pub that is down to earth and friendly. Locals are crucial to to the pub all year round. Found them very friendly when I moved into area and went there to watch footie in the winter.

We popped in here for lunch after a midweek walk along the river and Downslink old railway line. It was hot and sunny so we sat in the garden under a parasol. We chose from the simple lunchtime menu. Service was friendly, my pint of Harveys was in good condition, our food was served quickly and was very good especially the Club sandwich.

Probably the best kept secret of Henfield. Unpretentious, solid courtesy, very clean and well kept bar!Their steak nights, fish and chip nights and curry nights are to be envied by (the so called 'good and the great ' and so reasonable (meat from Hutchins!!! .Landlady Jackie is so very good and welcoming. If you haven 't visited or are fed up with the usual boring others....this is for you.

Since the kitchen has been taken over by Woods Kitchen, I have eaten in the Cat and Canary on many occasion and the food is excellent. The Eggs Benedict is fantastic. The children's menu is excellent and very good value for money. I really visited the Beer Festival at the Cat and Canary, they had a good selection of beers and ciders, live music and bbq with homemade burgers and much more more, all of which were reasonably priced.

This is a proper regulars pub, with darts and a pool table. Sells ok pub grub at a reasonable price. Beer is normally well kept. Has a decent garden in a nice quiet spot right next to the Downslink so a great place to stop if you are walking/cycling on this. Have even seen horses tethered in the garden whilst the riders have a drink! A bit old fashioned inside and can get very crowded at weekends as they often have karaoke, bands etc.

"So, the first problem was the booking (and the exact same thing had happened the previous time we arrived at this restaurant with an Open Table booking). I had made the booking online and received confirmation both via email and in the OT app, which I could show at the restaurant. When I made the booking very limited times were available: nothing between 11.45am and 2pm, so we assumed the restaurant would be crowded. When we arrived a little before our 2pm booking, it was three-quarters empty and they had no record of my booking. Since the place was largely empty this didn't matter, but on another occasion it might have done. And maybe one reason the place was so empty was that other potential customers had also seen no availability between 11.45am and 2pm, so Cote had no online bookings. Either Open Table or Cote need to sort out what is wrong with their booking systems as it seems that in Horsham at least the systems do not talk to each other. The food was fine, typical Cote just as you would expect, but the service was disappointing. In a largely empty restaurant one might expect efficient and attentive service but we got nothing of the sort. It was hard to get attention from any server and we had to request some items several times. Someone who from her dress was probably the duty manager, spent most of her time lounging or chatting with other staff members rather than making sure customers got good service."
