"This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."

"The food was excellent and beautifully presented. I dined in for dinner, and the price per person was around £10-20. I would rate the food and service both at a 5, while the atmosphere gets a solid 4. I highly recommend the Thali and think it's an excellent choice for vegetarians, as the restaurant features a dedicated vegetarian menu with clearly labeled dishes. There is plenty of free parking available as well."

"Fantastic for dining in or takeaway's. Food is delicious. Owner Mab's Staff are very welcoming very friendly. The dining in experience is excellent with a great atmosphere some fabulous decor inside outside. "I went here last night to get away from the over priced average food at the village hotel I was staying at. Pub is traditional and comfortable, staff were lovely and full of smiles. Food was excellent, big portions, home made and everything I ate was spot on. Meat just fell off the ribs, home made southern fried coating on well cooked chicken. Loads of dessert option, homemade sponges and cheesecakes. I had an excellent lemon drizzle. Well priced too, I only felt terrible as I didn't have any cash to tip my waitress, and wished there was a gratuity option on the contactless payment, which she fully deserved. Next time I'm in I will make up for it!"

"My family came to this restaurant three months ago for an intimate birthday celebration with five people. Every dish we ordered was served perfectly and in generous portions that we all enjoyed. The poppadoms with toppings were fresh and crispy, the pilau rice and plain rice were fluffy and flavorful, and the naans were hearty and better than any other I've had elsewhere. We tried multiple curries, including Chicken Tikka Masala and Jalfrezi, all of which were delicious and tender. I highly recommend this restaurant for families and small parties. Despite being busy, the quality of the food did not drop and we had a great experience overall. My family loves the Lamp Restaurant and we have visited before. Thank you to the staff!"
