"I had the Braised Pork Stew with Vermicelli described on the menu as Minced pork with translucent flat noodles, stewed with star anise, orange peel, clove, and ginger. It was a bowl of terrible sort of salted water. I think this is the monosodium glutamate described in other reviews by the acronym MSG. More than 24 hours after eating (or drinking? part of this stuff, I still have a lingering after-taste of this watery misery! I couldn 't really taste the pork. What I saw about pork was mostly some ultra soft pieces of fat: a sort of light jelly that dissolves in your mouth with no taste. There was no flat noodle at all but only, the very transparent indeed vermicelli. The taste was so bad that they tried to cover it by adding some chilli even though this is not on the ingredients listed on the menu which indicated a non-spicy dish! They didn 't give me a printed bill. I suppose they don 't want to leave a paper trail of their callousness."

The sweet and sour sea bass was sensational. Stir fried mixed vegetables were the best I’ve ever had. Friendly and helpful service.

We sat for 15 minutes whilst the waiter passed us by and served people who arrived later. When I called him he said bye bye...blatant racism

Absolutely useless, horrendous restaurant!! Told by a host upon entry our table for 7 would be fine but upon entering the restaurant a very rude waiter told us to leave as they could not accommodate 7 people despite being empty! Absolutely useless company who does not value customers View menu

Ordered a delivery from these guys whilst staying at a local hotel. What a terrible meal. Salt and pepper ribs that were more fat than rib. Main meal of chicken curry was a disgrace. Half cooked red chicken with a runny watery liquid which didn’t resemble anything like a curry sauce. Ended up in the bin. Avoid!

Their Kung Po Chicken was knocked out of the park! It’s a bit ‘Joe’s Cafe’ and that’s just how we like it. I’m guessing some of the negativity is because some didn’t get their rear end kissed by the staff. The staff are friendly and efficient. If you want fine dining and attentive staff go to The Savoy. If you want great Chinese food, eat here!

Return to the canteen whenever we need a quick and tasty lunch in Cambridge. Located by Bridge street just as it passes over the River Cam. The restaurant may be called the canteen, but, it is far more than that. A good and comprehensive menu also a midweek lunch menu. Great tastes and flavours, Cambridge has many Chinese Restaurants but most are hit or miss. The Canteen is consistently good. It can be busy if a coach load of trippers arrive ,but ,is still worth the visit.

The very unimpressive entrance to the restaurant on bridge street leads to a modest dining area, but don't be put off. The welcome was warm, the staff helpful and the food was the best chinese we have had in many many years. The service is great, and the food servings are generous so we shared our choices and left completely full up. The drinks list is completely out of date so the waiter simply brought several bottles to the table, gave us the prices and we made our choice. The food and drinks prices are very reasonable and given that several customers were chinese it confirms this is a real hidden gem . We will surely visit again if we return to Cambridge.
