"We stayed here for 1 night in April 2023. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean and warm and stocked with milk, teas and coffees. Breakfast was delicious with a great choice of options. There was a local map provided and our hosts gave us lots of recommendations to places to eat. Overall a great night away and would recommend."

"Popped in for an evening meal, ordered two pizzas and an insalate misto. Whilst both pizzas were beautifully cooked with great rise in the dough, both pizzas lacked the promise the menu offered; Calzone with seasonal vegetables contained just some added pepper (not seasonable in the uk at this time of year? , the Mortadella e Pistachio mainly tasted of ricotta cheese little else. The Insalata Misto (mixed salad contained just a leafy salad from a bag was not 'mixed ' at all (should contain a variety of salad vegetables drizzled with balsamico rather than a decent Italian dressing easy to remedy this, surely? The online take away menu reads better (but may not be up to date? . The chefs are obviously able imaginative, but could look at doing traditional pizzas again? Not expensive, but lacking the flavour, oomph honesty of a classic Italian Restaurant."

"During Jim Heaton's time, The Last Inn in Hengoed was a traditional village pub known for its excellent beer, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere. While the new owners have made some changes over the years, they have managed to maintain the pub's original charm, with the unfortunate exception of removing the real fire. Recently, the pub underwent renovations, swapping out the cozy wood panels for a brighter sage green and white color scheme. However, this change has altered the atmosphere drastically, making it feel empty and lacking warmth. Service was subpar, with a new and inexperienced waiter who made mistakes with our orders. The food was hit or miss, with some dishes being acceptable while others, like the Sunday roast, were bland and disappointing. The atmosphere has also taken a hit, with the pub now frequented by unsavory characters in tracksuits glued to the Sky Sports TV. Overall, I hope the new management can work on improving the atmosphere, service, and food quality to restore The Last Inn to its former glory. However, until then, I will not be returning."

"the first impression and the greeting were great. it looks like an intelligent city restaurant. but eating does not live with it. balsamikum and oil in a ratio of 5:95 so that they can not choose a balsamicum on their broth. fish and chips with soft...batter and soggy chips. ramen with lots of noodles meat and veg, but in a tasteless broth. it looks like nobody's thinking about what they're sending out."
