"At first, the place doesn't look very clean, but it smells detergent products, the parking lot is blown by huge holes. an old gentleman greets me, rather nice, but a priori not overly sympathetic and a bit hard of the sheet. I specifically ask him if he accepts restaurant checks (I show him a notebook to make sure he understands,) he tells me that yes and that the restaurant part is located right behind. Finally, a waitress comes and asks me what I'm taking. I'm making her realize I haven't had the menu yet. I'm letting myself try a blue burger with a steak supplement. In less than 10 minutes, my burger arrives...and there it's beautiful, it looks good, a priori based on fresh and local products. It's a real treat, it makes me forget the first bad impression of the beginning. When I pay, I get the checker out and then the waitress tells me they don't accept the restos checks. I make him understand that my first question at the time of entering the dinner was precisely whether he accepted them...I explain that the elderly person who welcomed me confirmed that yes. She explains to me that she's sorry, but he's wrong. Anyway, I'm going to see the good old gentleman again and ask him if he had understood my request about the restos tickets and there he looks like he doesn't understand anything by smiling me and asking me to repeat and while I repeat to him, he goes. pretending to go to other occupations. I ended up paying in cash and I went mad, feeling like I was made to be a tourist. I remain mixed with my experience in this dinner. because, without this history of restos tickets, I think I will be on a good impression."

Location is good. Food was ok. Service is the worse, no one care to ask if we needed anything. They just serve your food and keep moving.

I like this place, prices are very correct, excellent food, ideal for a meal between pots or family. Okay the outside is not top but the decor in it is searched and really top. The concern for me is the service that lacks dynamism and professionalism. Wine too, we were offered a rosé wine of 2013, 4 years old for a rosé and it was really bad generally it is year less to see two but not older. I also think it's pretty cool that it's a family business and that desserts are homemade.

This restaurant used to be called Chez Leon but is now Diner 118 as it is on the D118 road between Carcassonne & Limoux and has changed decoration to become an American Diner. We have been regular customers here since 2007 and usually visit for lunch. We love to walk through the vineyards from Preixan and love to see the changing colours of the beautiful countryside. We last visited on a sunny Thursday in November for lunch and chose the set menu for €13 which includes house wine (prefer the rose to the red). This also includes a buffet of starters including seasnails, beetroot, cauliflower, fishcakes, pate, potatoes, egg mayonnaise, charcuterie....For the main course I had Chicken in a mushro...

"My wife and I visited the L'Escale twice on the same day. It was a mid July Saturday and we had tickets to the cirque du soleil show. Before the show we had a beer at L'Escale. We both had a draft beer. My beer was fine - I ordered a blond. My wife's beer however was flat , not cold enough and tasted watered down- she ordered a red draft. We complained to the waitress, who was very nice and understanding. The waitress replaced the beer, but the replacement was not much better! After the cirque du soleil show, we returned to have a meal. My wife asked for another draft, this time the waitress told her that they were having problems with some of their drafts and they had a limited selection available. That explains why our earlier beer was flat. I had a smoke meat sandwich. It took a really long time to be served. Again the waitress was very nice and explained to many customers that they had a big problem in the kitchen and apologised for customers' orders being late. when my smoke meat sandwich finally arrived, I was surprised at how small it was given it's price. also the bread was dry- I bet that it was day old bread. So dry in fact, and so little meat was served that I only ate one of the two slices of bread! not very good at all! to summarize, the beer was flat and watered down, the service took too long, and the food was not acceptable, in either quality or quantity given the price. Thank you Anthony"
