We dined with a party of six, all meals served together, no one had any complaints. The service could be a little more professional.

Once again a quality meal the steak and ale pie wow never to be missed when we go and king prawn linguini my wife gets everytime always hits the spot with a smile thank you for a good night

Fantastic Christmas Dinner with the in- laws. Best turkey we have ever tasted and the staff are lovely. 5 stars as not a single bad thing about the whole experience. Thanks to the guys and the chef.

that was our first visit to the york herd for many years and we were not disappointed. beautiful pub, very tastefully decorated and exceptionally clean starter of creamy garlic mushroom amd ham ham ham terrine were a joy. my seabass and cray fish sauce was...as delicious and well presented as my partner sirloin steak. very well enjoyed our meal and have already recommended to the family and we will return soon

Barmaid greeted us from behind the bar as we walked in from the cold street. Found us a little table to dine though we hadn't booked, and it was Saturday night. After I'd seen off my pint of Black Sheep, a waitress stopped me as...I rose to go to the bar and insisted on fetching my next beer for me. Our food Fish Pie and Chickpea Tagine was plentiful, delicious and excellent value. To cap it all, when I got the bill, I saw the beer was £3.70. If you live in Herts, like we do, you'll know how I felt. Didn't feel the cold on the way back.

Waited an hour and ten mins for our food and when it arrived, my husband’s meal was missing. Took another ten minutes for his to arrive. If we’d been told how long we’d have to wait when we sat down, we simply wouldn’t have as...we were eating with our three young children. When the meals did arrive, the Sunday roasts were far too salty I left half of my meal. I eventually asked for horseradish sauce as we weren’t offered any condiments, only to be presented with no more than a teaspoon’s worth, if that, in the bottom of a dish. Unfortunately, we won’t return far better service and food in the Halifax area.

Steak cooked very well and came with a tomato and mushroom with chips. The child’s portion of spaghetti Bolognese was too big and a lot was wasted. The minced meat was clumped together, with not much evidence of tomato sauce and had some grated cheddar...cheese unmelted on top. The spaghetti was clumped together. The vegetarian burger in a bun was a small flat tasteless disc and the bun was not toasted properly and only on one side. Quite well presented, but disappointing on the whole. The staff was very attentive and helpful and the dining area clean and pleasant. Up the quality of the dishes and I might come back

we visited on a Monday evening that was quiet. we have eaten several times, so knew what to expect. at the arrival, however, we were told about all the things that they had not provided, a list of about eight articles. we decided to choose from and placed our order. my goat cheese and the beetroots salad came without rooted, and the salt and rosmarinfries of my man came without rosmarin. I have this with the waitress who came back to tell us that they had no rosmarin and no root. I would rather have said if we had ordered ourselves instead of the kitchen hope/conception that we would not notice. everything else was okay and we got a 20% discount from our eating as geste
