"My husband and I went for dinner on Valentine's Day. It had a lovely cosy atmosphere in two separate rooms but, at the same time, it had a minimalist, modern, smart feeling to it. The restaurant offers three set menus with a different number of courses and choices. They also have a short à la carte menu, although most people seemed to have opted for the set menus. The 6/8 course menu also offers a wine selection. My husband opted for the 'Regio' menu, whilst I chose the 'Klassik', each with four courses. Each course tasted as good as its description, and was very nicely presented from start to finish. My scallop carpaccio could have had a little more 'zing' from the fresh pink grapefruit, but this was just a minor detail. The 'amuse bouche,' the bread with herby cream cheese and marinated olives was a delicious start to our evening. This is definitely a restaurant where you go to enjoy a special occasion lingering over your food and enjoying the atmosphere. We did get the feeling that our second course had perhaps been forgotten (which it was!), but when it came, it was worth waiting for. Although the restaurant was full, with a lot of couples on this evening, the service was very good - efficient, warm and attentive. There is an excellent reasonably-priced wine selection with a variety of local and international wines. The food, too, was definitely very good value for money. We had been meaning to dine at this restaurant for some time, and were very happy that it exceeded our expectations. One thing to bear in mind, especially on a weekend, is that they do not have a car park, and situated in a residential area, parking nearby can be a bit of a problem."

The restaurant offers in nice surroundings a kind of creative cuisine, not bad, but actually only about ca. half of the dishes they offer are really a success. Service is good and friendly.

We went for a cosy evening out during our stay in Freiburg. Lovely ambience, very romantic and warm. The food was delicious; the nougat mousse a dream! Service very attentive and kind. Booking recommended as the place is always full.

This was without a doubt the best dining experience of our 2 week visit to the Freiburg area.We opted for the fixed course meal and were not disappointed,,everything well presented and delicious.Staff was friendly, accommodating (as we just did a walk up,no reservations)and went out of their way to ensure we well taken care of.Or only disappointment was that they were closed for the second week of our trip.Definitely a do not miss place.

For years I have found this place outstanding, but it has gone even better. From time to time there is a mini menu, which means about 10 different courses in smaller portions to choose from. Not only do they look delicious but they also taste so.The choice is hard to make. I wonder how a chef is capable to cope with such a variety. Prices are absolutely justified, not cheap but worth every cent. On top of that there are two more regular menus on offer.Service is friendly, the newly decorated two rooms very pleasant and adapted to the different seasons. For me it is always a joy to return.

My son was studying through the IES program at the University of Freiburg, and we came over from the NYC metro region to visit. He selected this restaurant. We did not want crazy over-the-top fine dining, but instead a cozy, home made dinner. This restaurant fit the bill, and then some! The decor is upscale European but with upholstered banquets, soft colors and candlelight, it exuded German warmth. It is located in a nice, quiet residential area. The owner took our order, and was so kind in allowing my son to try his German language skills, encouraging him along the way. The food was very, very good. Drinks included, the bill for 3 adults was E189.

It was our first meal at the Eichhalde and it will certainly not be our last. We had the Regio and Klassik Menus, both of which came up to our expectations. It was a busy evening for the staff and two mistakes occured which I put down to the pressure on them. We had open wine with the meal, my wife one sort for the whole meal and I had a white to start with and a red for the main course. One of the staff topped up my glass of white from the caraffe containing my wife's wine (a different wine) before I could stop her. When the main course came the dishes were wrongly served despite my questioning - my wife ate my lamb and I ate her beef! A couple of pralinen with the bill would have been a "n...

before I book a table, I and my man checked the calibrating Instagram page. we were impressed by the things we saw there and decided we wanted to taste them. from the moment we found ourselves, we made the right choice. the staff who...we were really professional and friendly for all the time, the location has an impressive attention to details. everything is from a background and with a design touch that makes the difference. Normally I would not draw attention to these details, but they were all part of the experience we had and that in the center had the creations of the Italian chef: all the dishes we tried were delicious, beautiful and brave as we expected. the portions were perfect and...

Entering the Eichhalde you feel like being home again.Nice Ambiente, no stylish Approach, a "Gastraum" to sit together, talk, enjoy the Food and the wine. You can pick the "Menu du Jour", the vegetarian, the "Mini Menu", a la carte as well or mix them all together. And when you are lucky you even can order items like "foie gras" not listed but hidden in the kitchen. We (4 preople) started with this superb foie, accompanied by a 0.5l bottle of Trokenbeerenauslese. We enjoyed foie 3 times during the last weeks, and here we found absolutely the best in taste and consistence. The following 3 courses were mixed and matched from a la carte and the "minis" - smaler portions which give you the Chance to...
