"Been here loads and always great. However, last time I visited I grabbed first menu I could find presented it to bar maid and selected a wine listed at £35. She looked at said menu and said “ok”. After 5 bottles of said wine i went to pay and was informed that the price on the menu was “retail” which resulted in actually £70 not £35. To be honest I could not be bothered with the row, but quite clearly a total stitch up job. Will never go back. Very disappointing approach to clawing back COVID losses (which I’m sure have been reimbursed anyway). Sad. A damming indictment on customer service from a. W he you would expect more from."

Quaint little pub serving lovely food and a fab wine list. Enjoyable atmosphere, food arrived quickly which is great for a working lunch.

Gow’s now closed! This is the epitome of 70s Fleet Street/City life! I know people who spent 3 years working their way through the wine list. Only reds!

Love going to El Vino in Blackfriars. It has been a regular of ours for many years. The food is great. The staff are so friendly, courteous and can't do enough for you. It's got that oldie woldie charm of how a bar should be run. Well done to all.

We had a fantastic bottomless prosecco brunch at El Vino, Blackfriars. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly. We had a cheeseboard starter to share, followed by breakfast each (photo attached), followed by pastry and coffee to finish. Would highly recommend this to all. View menu

We enjoyed some beautiful Argentinian wines and appreciated the advice of the knowledgeable staff (sorry I don't know your name but thank you), with a delicious array of tapas and a sharing board, and later coffee and dessert. We were delighted to have been allocated our own separate dining room so our evening was perfect!

Love, Love, Love El Vino Blackfriars it is my go to place in the winter to meet up with friends. It is busy but you still feel like it is just you and the people you are with. You 100% lose time in there and I love that. The food is very good the wine of course amazing! See you again next year and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the team

"The decor of the restaurant is really lovely. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. We placed our orders quite briskly. We received complimentary bread and olives, which was a nice touch. Our Bruchetta starter arrived a whole hour after we arrived, which was disappointing and far too long to wait for a cold and easy starter. The menu did not specify that the prawns on one of the bruschettas were raw! The waiter said service was slow because they were busy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Clearly not prioritising paying customers, who pay a 12.5% service charge, unlike online customers. Eventually, our main courses arrived. My pasta was only just cooked, so close to being undercooked and hard. They ran out of ricotta and replaced it with the tiniest amount of cheese so I asked for some more. Since ricotta was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The tuna steak was lovely, and the veal could have done with a thinner breadcrumb batter. The sides, chips and zucchini, were £4.50 and very small portions for such a cheap side. So that was slightly disappointing. Overall, the pinot grigio white wine was very drinkable, and they brought tap water when we asked for it. And the whole staff were very polite. It was a shame the service was so slow, and the food could have been better for the price that it was. We also felt it was overpriced for the location it was, zone 2 London and not in the West End."
