"Had a really great breakfast and lovely coffee on Saturday morning. Well worth booking a table, which is very easy to do via an online app as it can get very busy and avoids disappointment. All the ingredients are locally sourced and of top quality. I also brought a granary loaf and Chelsea bun to take away both fantastic. Staff really welcoming. Service: Dine in"

Absolutely lovely afternoon tea and so attentive, thank you so much, highly recommend, enough food and even a bag to take home of foods we didn't manage to eat

I’m so glad that Elsie May’s has reopened! The food is amazing; the Welsh rarebit and the homemade cheese scones are especially noteworthy. They also have a fantastic selection of teas. Overall, I’d rate the food 5 out of 5, the service 5 out of 5, and the atmosphere 5 out of 5!

"This pub has a beautiful summer garden and we enjoyed watching the variety of wild birds that flittered around. Whoever maintains the garden does so with pride and with knowledge of how to create a wonderful space. The same pride and knowledge is not represented...in our experience of the food. It took over an hour to receive a burnt fish chips and a fish burger that was a tiny bit of cheap fish cake. The fish cake tasted unsurprisingly dreadful, more potato than fish, a frozen bought in effort and was returned uneaten. After the hour's wait the kitchen was closed so no alternative was offered. The fish chips were supposed to come with creamed peas, but instead came with plain frozen peas. The claimed home made tartare sauce was out of a jar. The batter was dark brown and bitter and clearly over cooked to the point of being burnt. The chips were equally over cooked and dry. In our view the chips were frozen not fresh. The chef needs to take a leaf out of the gardeners book and take some pride at what leaves their workplace, as we left hungry and bitterly disappointed. That food should never have left the kitchen in the state it was and is hugely disrespectful to the customer. The service was friendly but slow. We weren't offered an apology nor were we asked how the fish chips were, despite them clearly being picked at and mostly left. The pub wasn't busy with perhaps 4/5 tables occupied by the time we left. This pub can clearly do better judging by the over positive reviews. It manifestly failed for us, on our first visit as locals."
