"So, Kobe beef has now landed in London with a few restaurants serving this ‘caviar of cattle’. This is supposed to be the genuine article as opposed to wagyu beef, which doesn’t necessarily come from Japan, and may not even be purebred. There seems to be much confusion over Japanese beef. Kobe beef is just that, beef which comes from Kobe. Although the most recognisable of Japanese beef brands, if you stop by Japan, you will find it in the minority with other regions taking precedence. Authentic, simple and delicious Japanese cuisine! We always come for special occasions! It's small and intimate.

The waiter dropped wine on my pants. She apologized and replaced the drink, but I was still charged for the service.

When I used the love of Engawa, but last time I was there the food was not as good (sashimi dry and not very tasty), service was not good and the entire environment was not as pleasant as before the pandemic.

the omakase lunch was delicious! sushi and sashimis taste fresh and place is unique. the server was very friendly and informative served on the food. we came in on a Tuesday, and the place began to fill quickly. I recommend reservations before I get in.

I love eating Japanese and am in a constant search for more Japanese places to go in london. but unfortunately engawa has disappointed and will not enter my japanese rest hall, which encompasses umu and ikeda. I chose engawa for a business lunch, as I had heard that their Bento boxes were fantastic. sad, the fish.

When you google Engawa London one of the first articles is Why Engawa is an unusually well thought-out restaurant by City A.M. My response to that is no. Engawa, self proclaimed as one of London's most authentic and traditional Japanese restaurants, specialising in the delicacy of Kobe Beef, alongside a stunning selection of fresh sushi and sashimi at first glance seems promising exciting but in fact it's quite the opposite.

un mouthful and shocking bad. in portions are absolutely tiny and the prices are extorted. my friend and I both left very hungry and both spent £85 ever we were livid. we had 2 alcoholic drinks and 4 dishes that would not have fed sperling. the steak, the £45 cost that “Gemüse came” was in the ground 2 tiny striped bark with 3 tasteless pieces each that we had to share. shocking. atmosphere also terrible and drab decor. also the external heaters were not functional. avoid them at all costs unless they want to be completely demolished.

It’s been a while since I was fully satisfied with a meal from start to finish, I was so impressed that, I already had decided we will be back before we had even finished our meal! Each compartmentalised dish was made on point, and with precision, thanks to the eagle eyed executive chef Akira Shimizu watching over his peers. There was an overwhelming staff to customer ratio upon arrival this was expected given the size of the restaurant. Attentive, and observant to the point I didn’t even realise that my glass of water was being filled up. 12.5% service charge.

what a TERRIBLE place .... it is a sweat of a restaurant with nothing Japanese apart from the decoration the fat thunfischsushi were tiny washed out in washabi, the thunfischsnigiri were almost frozen, the mistsuppe was watery. we left after 30 minutes and didn't even finish our tiny portions. And this is with pies of 8 per single sushi you see the bill enclosed 16 for 2 tiny fat thunfisch sushi (S-Toro) and 14 for 3 half inch cubes of thunfisch nigiri (N-Toro we klagten strongly, but the personal (most of whom East European or French could not remove any fucker)
