"we made a walk through ovelgonne with friends and chose hoppe’s for our dinner. it was a beautiful sunny evening and we had a table with beautiful view of the old ships in the small harbour and the elbe. the service was good, but the restaurant was quiet, as the g20 caused many to leave hamburg at this weekend. our food was delivered quite fast and it was very good. g had the chill with butter, our ladies shared the dish with grilled fish and garnel the house and I had the matjes. as dessert we chose the earthbeereien with a whipped cream (lecker) and the red grutze with a whipped cream that was just like my oma was used to make. great dinner at a fair price of just over 100 euro for us 4."

Too expensive for the quality of eating. Half slice of bread per head. Carp not recommended. Soup is delicious

very nice, good food, good service, I always come back. 3 times in the year I travel to hamburg, the last time on the 15th of December I had lunch and 2 dinners with various friends, and it all liked.

quiet fish restaurant in hamburg on a Saturday night. not too easy to get. hoppe’s fish restaurant fits perfectly! the service was prompt; eating was good and local; prices fair/reasonable; Anyway, we could hear each other. I've been so tired lately, those I wanted to spend an evening screaming over a table. this place had atmosphere, good food and we were able to hear our friends!

The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy. with Elb (River) view. Very maritime. I liked the interior. The service was ok. We had a very old man and he forgot a few things and didn't bring the ordered food. I mean he was kind of cute but I didn't get what I ordered... and the food was not that good. It's not a cheap restaurant that's why I just expected better food. So it was ok but I wouldn't come again. The location is great though and they have 2 or 3 parking spaces. You can pick up the keys.

the food is in order. very unfriendly and unprofessional staff. we waited forever to pay, and then decided to go to the cash. at this point a waiter said to us very rudely how "what are you doing here?" "Don't stay away"! .. we then went to the restaurant manager to complain about the behavior of her coworker. she didn't care about it, she said, "My employee didn't mean it. Moreover, we are quite stressed because we have too much to do.” I can only say: unprofessional! so you don't treat customers! View menu

The menu is very clear. Schnitzel Wiener Art is made up of turkey spoke that is not really possible! The so-called main dishes contain no vegetables or salad. Anyone who wants to eat healthy must always order a salad (minimum price: 5.90 EUR), because a vegetable supplement does not offer this formerly excellent restaurant at all. Small changes (e.g. roast potatoes instead of fries) cost 2,00 EUR extra. This then achieves a price level that is hardly justified. For us it was on the 9th March 2024 the last time. With such methods the gastronomy itself manages!

the position of the fish restaurant hoppe is with the elbpanorama and the coming and go big ships that drive past them, hardly to overbid while they enjoy fresh fish for lunch on a sunny spring day. the menu was small, but extensive, the longest were excellent, as well as the beer and the waiters were friendly and that food came fast, especially with three hungry little children after their long walk along the elbe. at our frequent visit in hamburg we always enjoy lunch or coffee and cake in the river restaurants in ovelgonne, and the fish restaurant hoppe offers the river terrace as well as a higher terrace and of course the main restaurant.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
