"We went to the Friary as a family of 6 (3 adults 3 children) at the weekend. The restaurant was very busy, though we had booked our table earlier in the week. We were seated drink orders taken straight away. The good points the food was excellent. We ordered mains of sea bass, pork belly rack of lamb. All the food was cooked to perfection with good selection of sides. Could not fault the main meals. For dessert we ordered profiteroles 2 Key Lime pies. We were given profiteroles 2 Malteser Cheesecakes... The bad points ok so we were given the wrong desserts, which was not great. But we were getting the desserts for free, because we were left waiting almost an hour for main courses! The problem was that just before we went into the restaurant, a huge group (maybe 15 adults approx 15 children) were seated. The kids were rowdy running around so staff were under alot of pressure. The adults werent much better... Just as we were about to complain about our wait, the manageress approached us to apologise for the delay, offered either free desserts or a free round of drinks as way of apology. She apologised a few times for the delay genuinely tried her best to sort it out. Despite the delay, i would definitely go back to the Friary. The food was lovely"

My elderly parents eat here regularly, I joined as a guest today. Cornelia the restaurant manager and her staff were excellent with us., they are a credit her and themselves. The restaurant was better staffed than most I have been in recently and very attentive with their service. They know how to look after my parents needs and that of young families alike. I would be pleased to have them work with my business. Thank you

A meal on the road for us and we were glad to be looked after. With a restricted diet for my guy, there were many dishes he couldn't order so we both went for steak. The description of what came with the steak took up more space on the menu than it did on the plate! In order to get a balanced meal and enough to eat, we had to order veg side dish. We heard others nearby who seemed to do the same. For £20 should you get a meal or a step up from a garnish? £3.75 for the side dish. Nice steak and attentive service.

I ate three meals and this restaurant and they were all very good to excellent. The hake fillet and the baked salmon were very good and the soups were hearty and very tasty. The Poker tree Ale pie was also very good. Most dishes came with vegetables and 2 different potato sides which were very good. The Bailey's cheesecake was also wonderful. The restaurant has a competent wine selection. The staff was attentive if somewhat hurried when the restaurant was full. Breakfast was very good with a full range of breakfast offerings, but their breakfast sausages, soda and potato breads were specially good.
